Dead battery, lost key, replace battery and key but alarm won't shut off.

Wife shut the door of my 2003 Boxter S and set the alarm. Car sat and battery died...lost keys to boot. Bought a new key from Porsche dealer and, following directions in manual, could not turn off alarm.

Local porsche mech has replaced battery but alarm will not reset and car will not start. What can I do? Can the dealer supply a code? PLEASE HELP!

-Paul

Did you programme the new key? That is a dealer job.

ALWAYS have two working keys for these cars. (this applies to all cars with eletronic keys)

Key is being programmed and the problem should be fixed. Unfortunately, I misplaced the barcode/key that was attached to the remote and had to purchase another for $95.

I have a scheduled "date" with my car so it will be driven regularly. This has cost me $945, and I only have one key! If I find the other remote barcode, I will buy a blade and have a second key. Lesson learned

My thoughts exactly...that is the last time I go to this particular dealer. The one I am working with now said the same thing.

You can get the valet key. It is cheaper than the remote. The valet key does not have a bar code. But the valet key still needs to be programmed.
