Freak, I just realized P0446 is not on the list of codes I just got. Things that make ya go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm????

PS. Just as a note. I turned on the pump with the Duramtric tool and could hear it running.

Too early to tell. You pulled the battery, so you cleared that code. In order to get that code, your DME has to test for it during one of it's cycles. Sorry Randy!

Bentley 24-25, page 177, Drive cycle:

Start engine, idle cold for approx. 2 min, 10 secs. Evaluated: Secondary air system, Evap Leak detection.
Decelerate and come to a stop. Idle in gear for approximately 5 minutes. Evaluated: Evap Leak detection.

The other two cycles are at speed, 20-30 MPH and 40-60 MPH, but they test other components.

Oh great. Shatter my hopes. LOL Thanks for the input... When and if it starts or can get it started this week. I'll run it through it's paces.

I still don't think that what those codes show would shut it down completely. But that is logic and these things are anything but logical!!!!!!

Nah, I'm still a Boxster novice, but I believe those codes are just from disconnecting the battery and then from it running out of fuel (used up the residual fuel that was in the lines).

Just for your curiosity, do you have the drive cycle chart? If not, I can send it to you.

How long is that line? Is it the full length of the car, from the hose that connects to the throttle body, all the way to the quick connect on the charcoal cannister?

Also, since I'm also chasing an air intake leak problem, could my P0446 code be because I'm leaking air past a valve in my EVAP system? So which would be the most likely fault? The #1 valve on line #8, or another valve in the system?

Put the fuel pressure tester from Actron on it today and it read nothing. Although before that we pressed the schrader valve in and it started. Put the fuel pressure tester on a tire to make sure it was working and it was. Put it back on the fuel schrader valve and nothing. So we went into the fuel tank. Wella, the line from the pump to the cap of the tank, (for lack of better words) was not connected. It was basically running on tank pressure. Put the Tester back on and it read 55 lbs. Which if I read the bar to lbs calculator is about right. Car started right up and then for the hot start test. Let it set for about 45 minutes., or back down to 120 degrees after being at 180 degrees. Started right up. It idled for about 1.5 minutes and went. I'me outa here. Done. Died and took a few to get it started. Once running it ran fine. Then tested it again with about the same time intervals. And back. Started after a try or two and then died. But once running. It would run fine and idle just fine. Kinda. In all tests the idle was a tad erratic once started. 900 to 1,100 rpm and the hanged around there, up and down. The real shame is. When running, this thing purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs like a kitten. sounds great. No odd noises and just sounds great!!!
So Keith. What was the part number for the line with the purge valve again? (-;

PS. It would be much easier to test the pressure with just a straight fitting from the tester to the manifold/fuel rail.

Glad to hear your fuel problem was just the hose not being connected!

Now, for the hard start problem....

The tank vent valve is 996-110-129-06. Not entirely sure it'll fix your problem, though. Since my problem never involved stalling. When mine was started, it would run just fine. Well, almost just fine. My idle would hunt between 800 and 1,000 RPM. Slowly. It would take about 10 seconds to reach 1,000, drop back down to 800 instantly, and start all over again. My guess is the DME was trying to adapt to my tank vent valve leaking air into the intake?

hi randy
just looking thru the thread and noticed you got a reading of 0.97 and just over 1.0x
from the oxygen sensors.

this is not a normal reading! they should ideally be reading at or near 0.50 volts, but they are noisy in this range so may be hopping around quite a bit. i believe a higher voltage means a lean reading and you are way lean with these numbers this points to a leak in the intake system, failed air flow sensor or a leak in the evap system. i had a similar issue with my '99 volvo v70 and it turned out to be a leak in the evap system
