'04 S Remote not locking or operating trunks

I've replaced the remote battery (and the LED stays lit). I can lock/unlock with the key in the door lock and it engages the alarm. Tried inserting key into column position two to see if it would reset. Any ideas ??? Do I need to get another key cut/programmed ?

Have you gone more than 5 days without using remote? If so, read owner's manual on how to reset.

remote fix

tried to reset via the operating manual, no good. took the remote to the auto parts store and it did not detect a signal coming from the remote with a fresh battery. Weird that the LED is stuck illuminated.

Probably a failing of failed circuit board in the key head...time for a new one. You can buy a new head only and reuse the key itself. You'll need to have the car programmed to recognize the new key head.

Solved

Stopped at the dealer, service manager took the key apart did something with the battery and circuit board, put it back together and now it works. No charge, thank you Porsche Greenville !

Others can weigh in and tell me if my recollection is nuts.

I think I recall hearing that one way to reset the key is to put the battery in upside down for a few seconds then take it out and put it back in correctly.

Maybe that's what the dealer did.
