Engine fails to start

2002 Boxster S, Tiptronic.
I have a rather suspicious occurs with starting.
About a month ago the wife and I went to eat and after having a nice meal got in the car and tried to start it. I had battery life and the engine would crank over but not fire. After several attempts we finally called AAA. I tried to start it several time while waiting for them to arrive. When the AAA truck pulled into the parking lot I tried one more time and guess what, it fired and ran fine.
Fast forward to this past weekend and the wife and I went to same place to have a nice meal. After eating went to the car and same problem. After trying for about 45 minutes called AAA again. When the truck arrived we thought we would try again and the engine cranked and then fired. Running fine so far. We did try disconnecting the batter and after waiting about 15 minutes reconnected but still would not fire.
The AAA driver said that it must be that the car has it's own mind after seeing the truck decided it didn't want to be hoisted on the flatbed, or maybe it doesn't like us going to that particular place for eats.
After reconnecting the battery I now have 'error Bordcomputer'. I've opened another post about that one.

Take a look at your crank position sensor, they are famous for causing this problem when the car is warm.

Per JFP -Heat soak causes this problem. And if you leave the car long enough , it cools off and works correctly.
Is your engine bay cooling fan working?
Is there any specific recommendation of a brand of CPS that is less prone to heat related failure ?
Or is the heat related failure a general indication that the CPS is just old and needs replacing?
part # is 986-606-112-02
