In a short space of time it is almost impossible to put into reverse. and now 1 and 2 and getting harder to engage. The pedal is getting sticky.

My mechanic is going to have a look and thinks its a clutch fluid leak. the car has 65k on the clock. Whilst it is in the shop, is it worth getting the master and slave replaced irrespective of being faulty...?

if the hydraulic system is at fault, I would replace the master and slave as a set.

If a hydraulic issue it would generally be the slave bypassing. No need to replace a good master if it is still serviceable. Your shop should determine where the issue lies before they replace any parts.

It could also be a failing pressure plate which is not uncommon.

Cheers
