Hello!
I need to replace my battery but I'm wondering if it's really necessary to register it. Indeed, my BMW shop doesn't want to do it because I didn't buy it at their shop. If I replace it by exactly the same is that really possible the battery will have a shorter lifetime? Thanks for your precious help! __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Pelican Technical Article - Mini R56 - Battery and Connection Notes Replacement |

Does your car have the IBS? If so, it will have an extra box on the negative battery terminal clamp. If the clamp doesn't have anything extra on it (see the photos in our article for an example of the extra box), then you don't have to register the battery.
Most aftermarket code readers and such will not be able to register the battery. A good BMW/MINI specialty stop should have the setup that will allow that, and of course the dealer does as well. --DD
