Can a dirty fuel filter cause the fuel pressure sensor to set the MIL? Under heavy acceleration I get a check engine light however my reader says there is no code set. Never the less it clears the code. The engine light stays off unless under heavy acceleration.

Not unless fuel flow was greatly reduced. Check pressure, volume and fuel quality to be sure.

You might have a dealer level code being triggered that your reader wont be able to read. Might want to swing by a MINI indy shop and see if they can pull a code with theirs. Any other symptoms other than the CEL? What routine maintenance services have you done recently?
