I purchased a 2012 mini S hatchback, I did its first oil change and used synthetic oil, if I want to go back to non synthetic oil will this be a problem ? I was told that once I use synthetic oil that I cannot go back to non synthetic. is this true ?

No problem going back and forth, or mixing if in an emergency.

I wouldn't use non-synthetic. MINI has a specific list of motor oils that they recommend, and I don't think that any of them are conventional oils. The recommended oil that has been easiest for me personally to find is Mobil 1.
Check your owner's manual for the list of approved oils. --DD
