Looking at the photos the article had a 17mm wrench used. It is possible the caliper bracket was replaced and different size than factory was in p;lace. I have also seen these as 16mm.

Keep in mind that when your car was serviced before, parts may have been replaced with different size fasteners used in the replacement. Also, there could be a variation or difference with models. The sizes of the nuts and bolts we give may be different from what you have, so it is always good to be prepared with different size sockets and wrenches while working on your MINI.
