My 2004 mini 175K mileshas a year old rebuilt manual transmission, everything worked fine till recently , i could not put into reverse, then when driving forward through gears and stop , i was able to put into reverse, then happened again after driving forward awhile , no reverse..repeat, before the rebuilt transmission i noticed sometimes a little trouble getting into reverse, does this sound like the shifting cables?

it does/. try manually shifting at the levers on the trans. If it goes into gear OK, replace the cables.
