BIGFOOT convention in town this weekend-I just might go!
OK- I just dropped the cumulative PPOT IQ level by 1000 points. I get that.
..and I'm losing interest as the event gets nearer, but- Pro's: I watched a lot of "Finding Bigfoot" I liked Bobo, and how Bobo was certain that squatches like bacon. I also liked how the show pointed out squatches were everywhere, not just in the pacific northwest. Heck, if there were squatches in Virginia (where I live), I could be interested. Even if it was just for rating points, I liked the idea I might run into a squatch instead of the usual bear/deer/wild turkey. This is a TWO DAY event. If bored, I could leave at any time. For some reason though, the photography aspect really fascinates me. Some comedian said that the pictures of bigfoot are blurry, because bigfoot, is in fact- a blurry creature. Although I am doubtful such a creature exist, I am fascinated by nature photography, and how hard it is to capture good pics in nature, particularly of dark fast moving animals in heavily wooded areas. Poor light quality, autofocus issues, etc, especially in dense foliage. About a year ago a coyote bolted across my yard. My good camera was right in front of me. The whole event happened so fast, there was NO way I could even grab the camera, let alone turn it on, grab focus, and shoot. Con's: I have to pay to get in. I have to actually go there. Bobo and his crew WILL NOT be there. I doubt they will make a guest appearance. I have to sign some waiver saying I will not heckle the quest speakers I might just end up believing even less in the hoopla once I see the "speakers" and "evidence" There is an overnight camping activity nearby in a supposed squatchy "hot spot" Knowing where the event is located, and the local bars nearby, I think they have a very different interpretation of a "squatch hot spot" But heck- this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

There's a Bigfoot museum up in the mountains near here. Naturally, the guy who runs the place swears that they're out there

Bigfoot is just as likely as the Yeti, and unicorns. There has never need a tiny bit of evidence, nothing. No hair, droppings, bones or bodies, much less a sharp photo or video. No trail cam pics, nothing.
It is just like Roswell, a way to make money, nothing more.

So when you got to a BigFoot convention is it like StarTrek and you dress up like BigFoot?

I met the Yeti back in ‘95. Great fella! More bark than bite. Shorter than I expected too!

Hey man! You have the Dark Forrest in Lee County VA where the shape shifting woman of the woods lives. Don't get too close though or she'll mess with your mind, take your cell phone, and make a video of you doing weird stuff.
FWIW, I think Bobo is right about squatches and bacon. I mean besides vegans, vegetarians, and pigs who or what doesn't love bacon? |

Go. The kook watching should be worth the price of admission.

The man that wore that suit confessed it was all a hoax, and even showed the suit he used. They used to walk in the woods with the big foot print shoes and laugh at the reports of the mysterious foot prints.

As a native Pacific Northwesterner, I have to admit I really enjoy this whole Bigfoot thing. To me, it's just harmless fun, never to be taken too seriously. One of my favorite stops along our Highway 2 that heads east and west over our Cascade range is a little coffee stand with a Bigfoot motif. They have all kinds of cool stuff, from tee shirts to coffee mugs to field guides. You can even buy the sign shown above at this shop. Very tongue in cheek, all in good fun.
I would absolutely go to a convention like this given the opportunity. Just stay away from all of the fat middle aged women that claim to have had Bigfoot encounters. Their stories always revolve around this big muscular beast having his way with her. I'm not making this up. As such, if I ever do see one of these things in the wild (Bigfoot, not a fat middle aged woman), I'm going to have to sit him down for a spell... See if he understands the concept of "dignity"...
