That's what you get when someone with no aesthetic ability nor any ability to shape metal builds a body. You can tell that his only metal shapings skills are bending metal in one plane and welding it together.

Judging from his description, he's not all that much of a car guy either. A positive rear end? His choice of a used (relatively stock?) truck motor from 45 years ago screams low budget and his choice of colors tells me that, either he is a farmer, or he has no clue what hot rods look like in the 50's.

I've actually seen worse, which is not a pleasant thought.

He had the sheet metal bender plus the welding and paint equipment.
But was missing the english wheel and time and planning and artistic eye and a few more things...

There are wise sayings about "opening a can 'o worm project" and "don't fix something that ain't broken".
A vintage Ford now ruined would be one of those.

Probably a fun venture and he did get 'er done, but the world is down another ModelT.

Wow!!! That is so unbelievably bad. One of the worst, ever. I am laughing so hard right now, the family thinks something is wrong with me.

I think he has talent. Obviously we can't see what lies beneath the paint but it appears he has metal working talent and the finish looks good as well. What I see the builder lacks is an understanding of proportions and an artistic eye.

Someone that makes air conditioning ductwork has metalworking ability. That's the type of work that I see rendered here and it's a different type of metalworking ability than what is needed for making custom bodywork. This guy was in over his head when it came to making the body.

I also think his knowledge of hot rods is fairly superficial. He's heard some of the buzzwords, and he really has no understanding of what they really are. Take a look at what he calls this thing. It has nothing to do with a 1946 Ford, or a model T, it doesn't have a stake bed... I mean really, call it anything but that.

I personally like the color, if it were on a 1973 Carrera RS, and maybe the finish is fine. The only congratulations I can afford this guy is the actually got something finished, though I would be quite surprised if it drives well at all. Most hot rods and custom cars suffered greatly in the details, they might look OK when driving by 50 feet away, but if you're the guy riding inside one it's usually not a great experience.

It looks like the body was made from a couple of 275 gal. standing oval heating fuel tanks. "T Bucket"? The only bucket here is the one to throw up in.

At least he isn't asking a six figure price tag.

Guy probably had fun.

Someone will enjoy it.

Hah!

If you painted the whole thing black, and made the hood into a coffin, and went completely 1960's Munsters custom, I could see some potential.

He is more ambitious than just welding a BMV body on a ‘46 Ford and calling it a “Fordemdubya” with tiny back tars.

Real easy for anybody to walk in to a dealer and slap down $$ for a car.
It may not be the best lookin thing out there, but the guy made an attempt to build something himself. ( something that is dying off in modern society....) Good for him!
