I believe the OP still has "internet", just he has updated to portable.

Doesn't sound like trying to live in the past, but rather accept that technology for personal use has moved forwards.

I think his title is somewhat misleading as there will still be internet access in the home.

My wife and I have smartphones and can use them if we need to contact anyone, satellite for TV.
Later this year I'm going to cut the satellite (Dish network, very happy with them but time to move on) get high speed internet, WIFI, and a ROKU.

I rather enjoy telling people we don't have an internet connection at home and watching them make funny faces... my wife, not so much... however she is WAY more concerned with what other people think than I am.
As in she tried to do her time card on her iPhone and it came out all wrong. The agency had seen this before and asked if she was using her phone to post her time card numbers and it no workie that way. She told her supervisor this and supervisor told her to do it on the internet to which my wife replied "we don't have internet at home"
Supervisor looked at her like she had three heads (much to my wife's dismay).
My first response to hearing this was "doing your time cards is work related and you shouldn't be doing it at home."
And "people in third world countries don't have internet and that is two thirds of the worlds population or more."
To which my wife retorted "well, we do not live in a third world county!"
I see that many of you post here from your phones so you don't necessarily need internet to post here (yes, I know technically you ARE on the internet just accessing it with your phone but let's not get all pedantic here) just wondering if I am the last of the Mohicans.

That is the line that popped out for me. I have no issue with someone dealing with poor internet choices or reducing the cost of internet. I am just can't imagine it personally.

To quote a friend of mine "It ain't my pig, it ain't my farm"

Thats how I read it. Cant imagine not have an internet connection at home. Instant weather, news, entertainment.... I dont have great signal at home so no interest in wireless only.

Agree this is a good idea. Straight talk says they will monitor activity which I believe means if I am ripping high def movies through the phone from Pirate Bay daily it may throw a flag. Maybe?

Does the tethering turn my phone into a hot spot?

Also warnings can be horse puckey simply because that’s just what they say?

Straight Talk likes my $57. No probs yet and probably run 90 hours per month of YouTube down the pipe at home.
