I generally don't have time for lunch. I wear the suit jacket and unbutton it when i sit...button it back when i stand. The jacket comes off if I am going to be sitting at a desk working (alone...not at a meeting). Sometimes the tie too. No Astons for me. I drive a Porsche.

FWIW, sometimes I look at modern fashion and wonder why. As goofy as it is though, it isn't hurting anyone. In many ways I feel the same about Classical Music. After a while, it didn't always improve, it just became different for the sake of being different. Whether or not it is confrontational is personal and subjective. I don't see any of it as being inherently so, unless there is context. In Jazz for instance, Be Bop was deliberately confrontational. I don't know enough or care enough about fashion to know those distinctions unless they are very deliberate. FWIW, my comment on both of them being gay was more in response to the caption, ''What the Hell Happened to Us'' than it was about the actual pictures. Cary Grant was kept in the closet for fear of box office flops. I'd like to think he would have been a snazzy dresser in any case. It suits him. It just makes me look like a disgruntled banker. I do recall once going in to a Porsche Audi, RR Bently dealership once to pick up a car. The salesman had dealt with me on the phone, and he and the manager were being a bit snotty in person until I very quietly let them know that I was losing my patience. It was really a case of what I said and how I said it that got their attention. I was not shabbily dressed, but they couldn't relate to my appearance. They got the verbal message loud and clear, and then the transaction moved smoothly. I'm sure some of you know how I can be. It is funny though, because that salesman sent me a card on my birthday for years, asking me about my car, or mentioning this or that. It amazes me what some people respond to. Where I work, everyone wears nomex overalls.
Makes it simple. And if anyone shows up with a tie, you're supposed to cut it off. Ties are considered a safety hazard and it's said to be a tradition to take a pair of scissors to it, but it's only really happened once in the 38 years that I know of. |

It would seem someone going for a person's throat with a pair of scissors would be a more imminent safety hazard!

Depends how much they pay to wear it for a few minutes while I walk up and down the runway looking like a fool.
Look at all the performance TV shows where people get on stage looking like idiots.
