Right out of Idiocracy

In an episode from "Ow, my balls"...

My dad spilled a fresh cup of boiling tea in his crotch today. He is presently in the trauma/burn unit getting his...private parts fixed...Second degree burns.

when i worked in PT as an aide at an acute care hospital, we had a lady in a wheel chair spill a pot full of boiling spaghetti water into her lap. ended up transferring her to a specialist burn unit.

I used to own a 1969 Corvette. 350 hp and a close-ratio 4-speed.

No cup holders. No problem holding a hot cup of coffee between the thighs while one moves out of the parking lot and into traffic.

That is all I'm going to say.

ouch!

Somehow I figured out how to burn my left bicep with a pan coming out of the oven. Didnt think much off it at the time, a few days later and I have a nice ~2in scar. I think I was roasting some brussel sprouts, at least they were good!

But they were brussels sprouts. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

awhile ago I had a serious need to have a temporary catheter inserted you know where.Of course a very attractive nurse caught the duty. ALL I could think of was "don't get a chubby, DON'T get a chubby!".

I haven't had a catheter, but I've heard about them. I suspect that as soon as she started in with it, things may have straightened out, but all chance of a chubby vanished. I hear it's not in any way a pleasant experience.

Dad didn't get back home until 8PM. It was a bad second degree burn and the burn unit was able to help him. The only issue, he was "low priority" compared to the much more serious burns that kept coming in.

There is humor in every circumstance - RB, is it too soon?

I have some comments I'd like to make now that we know the man is doing better.

Please

Burns are bad.
Burn wards are bad places.
Burn treatment is really bad.
Burn scars are bad.

The fact that they released him the same day is really good news.

Pretty soon coffee and tea bags are going to come with lap protection. CA will be first to require it.

He is doing fine. As I said, in the end, it was good he ended up at the burn unit. They have special dressings and medication to help keep the wounds clean and heal faster.
