I have found that if you add "bichez" to the end of your post it gets more attention.... bichez.

And let's not forget the "sumbichez" variable as well. That one really adds an extra level of emphasis.

Written by Minneapolis homeboy Nick Schenk. Not bad for a first effort.

I did not know that - that, then, is the Hmong tie-in.

Write what you know.

Thanks.

Edit: I meant; Thanks, MOFO.

Real names? You know who you are. If you can't trust your farts, don't work on the back of your acreage without a change of gear.

When Clint bought the screenplay from him, he did not change a word. The only change made was the location setting of the story, from St. Paul to Detroit because MI had a more generous tax give-away for location filming. States compete w each other for these Hollywood dollars and MI is just more hard-up than most places as you can imagine. Being a low budget production, (by studio film standards), the extra savings pushed it over the finish line to get made.

When I saw it, my first reaction was, Detroit has Hmong as well?" They don't. I did not know the location story yet. It's a St. Paul story through and through, including the now closed Ford plant on the Mississippi River on Ford Parkway where my cousin used to work. The best field trip in my life was the Ford plant in 1965 when I was in first grade(?), we walked the line and watched them build a new Mustang from bare frame to pouring gas in it and starting and driving it off the line. It took about an hour of walking and of course it wasn't the same car as the bare frame, they were not building them quite that fast. It was thrilling beyond description, my 6 year-old eyes were like saucers.

The St. Paul Ford plant was one of several that had to go to 100% Mustang production in '65 and '66, they were selling like hot cakes. 600,000 stamped out in '66. Later, it went to all F-150 production when those became the best selling vehicle in the U.S. years later. It's a brilliant story of the decline of manufacturing in America and a guy who was a product of a different time clashing with some new realities about a changing country. I first saw it at a large screening full of Hollywood liberals and people were literally falling out of their chairs laughing at Clint's lines.

A brilliant script and one of two friends who have been blessed by Clint, the other is Jason Hall who wrote the Chris Kyle story. He hadn't done squat previously and now he's A-list, thanks to Eastwood. I'm a fan.

We were looking to sell our Hybrid Solar Energy systems to an ex-pat community in Nicaragua. A few months later it was over taken by the local anti-government rebels...
