Thanksgiving Got Off to a Rough Start...

I have notifications turned off on my cell phone between 10pm and 6am. unless they come from someone on my favorites list. I've gotten one too many phone calls/texts at 3am from a scammer claiming to be a friend who needs to be bailed out of jail. None of my friends would likely find themselves in that position. I always tell the scammers they can rot in jail.

But I digress. It is because of those ****ing scammers that I woke up this morning to a 3 am text message from my credit card provider asking if I was attempting to use my credit card at a White Castle. I think the closest White Castle is over 100 miles away, and I wasn't at one at 3am. Suspecting this is another scam, I call the number on the back of my credit card to find out that this has in fact happened.

So great, my main credit card has to be cancelled the day before Black Friday and I'll get a replacement in a week. I have a backup credit card, but its in my name only. This means that now I have to accompany my wife and lug my kids around for Black Friday shopping.

I have never seen a cashier at a checkout actually look at the card being used. Just give your wife the card and wish her luck.

If you ask the CC company they will overnight the card. They love to get it to you fast so you can start spending again

This. Of of the contractors for our company is paid only to fly, and for his pilot services and we cover his meals if he goes out of town, and fuel for the airplane. He carries my credit card in my name. No one at any restaurant or FBO or any other store, as ever questioned it. Not one.

I was doing that to accumulate miles for my wife when one did look at it. I pulled out another ID that showed at least the same last name and that did the trick. Some security, eh?

It's usually easy to get credit card transactions reversed. It's the debit card you gotta watch for. I almost exclusively pay with my credit card and made sure I don't have tap on my debit card.

Times 10,000!!! We haven't done 'black Friday' for many years, most of those deals can be had online.

We only have one Sam's club card that is in my wife's name. When I use it the on the rare occasion the cashier looks at the card they smile and say "hi Sharon"

I never sign the back of my cards. I write "ask for id" and they very seldom do. I thank those who ask.
