Ok. I installed AdBlock Plus an hour ago, and it’s really helped a lot. However, I think I’ll give uBlock Origin and NoScript a shot.

We are also seeing a lot of crypto mining on websites these days. Use Cisco Umbrella to block them

Timely thread! I have been struggling with Chrome freezing. Just added Adguard and it's humming along now. I was using Edge because it was able to power through better than Chrome which was becoming unusable.

I have been testing Vivaldi at work. So far it is pretty lean and fast and I think it is mature enough now to be used as my main browser. Need to see if Ghostery is available on it though.

Interesting, I will. I assume they do tabbed browsing. Do they allow you to place the list of tabs on the sides instead of the top?

Drives me bonkers that these days, most computing is vertical, but most monitors are horizontal. For quite a while now I've been using various add-ons for FF to allow me to place my tab list on the side vs the top. and now you know why, I now have 8 new tabs queued up for later today with reading on various new browsers.

Even if not, I'll still probably try them both because that's how I roll.

I decided to go with uBlock origin, and so far I must say I am very impressed. I'm a Chrome user.

Thanks for the advice folks. I knew I could count on the vast wealth of broad knowledge available here.

Vivaldi is very customizable, can't speak for the other.

Me too and it's much better. Thanks to the poster that suggested it.

The above link is a head to head. Both are excellent, but they give the nod to Ublock Origin.

I'll have to give uBlock Origin a shot to see if there's a big difference in memory usage. People are reporting that it's much less, so it doesn't hurt to try!

I loaded Ublock origin and Noscript two days ago based on this thread. I disabled them today. I got tired of having to go through every single site and enabling whatever it took to see pictures of items while shopping, pictures associated with news articles (Marketwatch for example, etc.)
One site I had to enable something special to actually see the text of the article.

I disabled noScript for the reason that it greatly hindered useability. UBlock is making me very happy.
