This is seriously Sexy - finally a good looking E-car

No idea on price but since it's Taycan based, I imagine above my means... Still, finally an electric car that looks futuristic, cool (that's for you nissan Leaf) and actually is fast (that's for you I8)...

That is a good looking car. But likely 80K or more.

Think the NIO looks absolutely stunning, turned down the offer of a senior design role working on it, decided to help a friend out on another car project instead

Audi looks great too, bet the folks at Tesla are a bit concerned that the big auto manufacturers are starting to gain momentum in the EV market

The reason that it still looks cool is because it's still got a "grill". Of course, the reason that most E-cars don't look cool is because they don't have grills because they don't have radiators.

But yeah, it looks cooler than most of the rest.

Sorry, but no e-cars are cool. No e-cars look good. A car is visceral, exciting, and fun because little metal plates twist (or slide) open, liquid fuel is introduced, and glorious barely controlled exposions occur a very short time later. Unspent combustion products come bellowing out the tailpipe in a glorious manner. Electrons moving from higher potential to lower potential just doesn't cut it. It may be efficient, it may be effective, it may be the future, but it aint sexy!

BTW, neither 356's or (real) 911's have front grilles, and I think most on this forum agree that they are good looking cars.

Audi can't make a reliable gas powered car and now they are trying electric cars!

They will explode.

That was my first thought as well.

I am sure they will bury the batteries and all other components so deep inside the car so you have to completely dismantle it to work on it.

Yes the I8 is sexy but it's a hybrid, not a pure electric car, and it was billed as a 2 seater "supercar"... It's somewhat compromised as a hybrid with small battery-only range, a mini cooper engine - high nobility right there - and performance that does not come close to matching its looks or price... Word is not out on that audi yet on price, but it's a sexy sedan in a world where sporty sedans are all but gone.

Reliability wise, I don't know what to tell you guys. VW is investing a ton in E-cars. That Audi will be essentially a Porsche Taycan with different chassis tuning and Audi metal on it, presumably discounted from Porsche prices. I'm about to surrender my E-golf in a couple months and that car has had ZERO maintenance over the past 2 years (all I've done is rotate the tires from all the wheel spinning 0 RPM torque), it's been fun to drive, and cost me $1.20 a day of commute in electrons - in fact it lowered my house bill due to an EV plan, go figure. I also enjoy my 991 a couple days a week so I'm not saying E-cars will or must take over, but they are great commuters and fun to drive - too bad most of them are bland or ugly or 6 figures. I keep waiting for something a little sexier than a Golf in that price range, but nothing. Audi released an Etron SUV which is "meh" at $80K, this Sedan one looks expensive sadly, but at least it's not ugly !!!

Audi’s look great and have some pretty amazing technology. This car promises to be even more amazing.

The problem is that Audi cars are made out of broken. Their technology always breaks and breaks in a spectacularly expensive manner.

This car could possibly rival early 80’s Jaguars for expensive repairs and general dissatisfaction once the warrantee / lease expire.

These look great and probably offer an amazing driving experience.

Yup. Stuff like this is probably the beginning of the end for Tesla. The big companies have economies of scale, dealer infrastructure, advertising budget, engineering capability, and brand cache that Tesla can't match. Oh yeah, and they also will very likely turn out a higher quality product and deliver it on time.

While concerns over Audi reliability are pretty well founded, electric cars are dirt simple compared to an IC one. You are talking about exchanging thousands of parts for a handful, and only one that moves.

The Audi is the same chassis as the Porsche Taycan:

Guessing 80-150 as they were gonna be 3 tiers of performance.. Entry level they said between cayenne and panamera... I doubt they meant stripper versions of each...
