Got a new one a few days ago:
If I lean slightly to the left, the front of my right arm from the bicep to the thumb goes tingly like it is "asleep". If I tilt my head the other way to goes back to normal in a few seconds. I'm figuring a pinched nerve. My typical strategy is to just wait for it to go away but that seems to take longer than it used to. |

Kids don't know what good music is any more.
Now that I am 50 I find myself reaching for reading glasses more and more and it seems I am constantly plucking nose and ear hair. |
Sammy. It is probably a pinched nerve. I have one affecting my left side, which started in the 90s. Lately I've been experiencing some symptoms on my right side. Supposedly the pinching is caused by an arthritic condition in the spinal portion of the neck area causing a reduction of the hole (fossa) where the nerve exits and causes the pinching. The irritation on my left side subsided over the years. I think because the body becomes accustomed to the constant irritation and begins to block it out.

Another thing that I was reminded of with the colonoscopy prep thread.

Haven't hit the age and don't qualify as at risk but this one can't be fun

At 55 I've been feeling a little old lately.
You gents have cheered me up!! |
My father in law used to say it was downhill after 50. 60 was not bad but in my 70's is more challenging. Still can walk five miles a day no problem. Still a moving target is harder to hit than a stationary one.

So many of my freinds are lazy, they come home from work and do nothing but watch TV, eat, and drink. I barely sit down for dinner, and am usually up and walking about doing things till bed time.
STAY ACTIVE to keep alive ! |
Damn this thread got long fast!

I almost had to take a nap between pages 3 and 4.

FYI: If you want to read something sort of funny about getting older try reading the very last article in this month's issue of Field & Steam Magazine by Bill Heavey.
His column is called "A Sportman's Life", this month's feature (December 2018) is titled "Coming of Age" - Making The Most Of My Mature Years. It is just one page of light reading, does not look like it's been posted in his online blog yet. https://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/a-sportsmans-life |

I remember standing outside of the Town and Country club in St. Paul, MN. after one of my many cousin's weddings back in the '90s. I was in my early 30s. A Catholic priest who my older cousins knew was with us. He asked my cousin Joe how old he was, (knew him since early childhood). My cousin answered that he was 40 and said something about, "life begins @ 40..." The priest answered, "Oh BS! It's all downhill from here..." We all nearly fell over laughing. :D:D |
