Springfield 911 in 9mm

Yes, 911.

Looks pretty good. MSRP $659 for the stainless version (needed for Houston).

6+1, ambi safety. Single Action

Is that one pound weight, with or without the bullets?

Sounds kind of heavy compared to the .380 variety either way.

A beautiful piece though.

EDIT:
For reference, an adjacent comparison.

Quote:
The Kel Tec PT3A Is Small

It weighs 8.3 oz empty and 2.8 oz more loaded, that’s 11.1 oz ready to rock and roll.

At the time of this writing, they are advertising the Kel Tec 380 as the lightest of all the subcompact .380 pistols, and I believe it.

The dimensions are equally diminutive at 5.2” overall length, 3.5” height and .77” wide.
NOTE:

The above Kel Tec PT3A is too small for even small hands to be very enjoyable at the range - in my opinion.

I have a P3-AT.

The 911 will be unloaded at 13oz. the P3-AT is a polymer frame with a steel slide. I had mine nickel plated for Houston weather.

The 911 will be Aluminum framed with a Stainless slide and barrel.

Have never owned a SA firearm. Will likely be giving my Ruger EC9 carry spoon to my daughter. Cheap, light, and after about 400 rounds, never a hiccup. Had planned to replace it with a Sig 938, but this SA911 might be worth a look.

My Sig Sauer P938 in 9mm was about the same size and weight. It was a nasty little wrist snapper,.

I had a Kimber Micro9 that couldn’t put 20 rounds down range without an FTF. Sent it in for rework...same issue. Very similar to P938, but the Sigs have a much better rep. Have a P226 Legion and a P320c that are flawless through many, many hundreds of rounds. 9mm in a small chassis is going to have some bite, I suppose, so, we’ll see. I do like the Ruger though. So many choices...

.380 = Weight empty: 11.85 ounces

38 = Weight empty: 14.3 ounces

I know that's it's apples and oranges, I just do not like misfires - happened at the target shooting part of the CCW class no less. I think that I could slide, slap and clear in my sleep now though.

My carry these days is a 1903 in .380 that has been Ceracoated and gone through. I had a Sig P290, and I may buy another one of those. But this Springfield looks really sweet.

Yep. There is a list...

I really like my Sig 938. Isn’t not the funnest thing to shoot and it is a little snappy, especially without the extended magazine. But any in that size class and caliber will be. Never a FTF or any other issue and it’s had quite a few rounds through it. This Springfield 911 looks really similar, and I’m sure it’s another high quality option.

Though I'm not Higgy, I have magnums and even my steel Colt CC .45 ACP has more recoil than my LC9S imo. I bought it after my uncle purchased one several years ago...we both love ours. He will not shoot large caliber pisols and is a 9mm guy too....just another perspective....check out the baby Rugers imo. BTW....I sent my first one back...defective ....it happens. No FTFs in either of ours....fun to shoot too imo.

Kach....we have the Bodyguard 38 revolver. Put a better grip on it and really like it. Has a crimson trace laser as well. It lives in my wife’s nightstand. Very comfortable to hold, shoots well and as any revolver, 100% reliable. Just a bit thick for carry.

I thought the 1903 was .32 and the 1908 was .380. Oh well.

Dad carries a 1908. Not a bad little spoon if you don't have to shoot far.

I have an EMP in 9mm
Slightly larger than the 911 and it is snappy, I’d be interested in how the 911 handles, I bet it’s a handful

There is confusion on the naming, because of the Colt Vest Pocket 1908.

I usually call it a 1903 in 380. Some people call the .380 the 1908 Hammerless

I've got a 1906 in .25 Ha, doesn't make sense I'd rather have that 9mm.

All I know is they look identical in the pictures. When I ordered the spare mag for him the part number is for a 1908 so that's how I know what he has. Maybe.

The 911 is one I want to look at when I get around to it. It shouldn't be too bad. Then again, the smallest 9mm I have shot is the XD 3" version which is twice the weight.

I have a mini-1911. One of the original Seattle Detonics .45 in stainless. Gorgeous gun. Reliable after I figured out its quirks. I never carry it. Partly because its too valuable to get wear marks, but mostly because it is heavy as heck. Add a holster that allows safe cocked carry and its even heavier. If I was going to carry a lump, I'd rather have .45.
