i read some article where Rap and R&B is handing Rock it's ass as far is the charts.

besides..every (i hesitate to use the word) "celebrity" genre puts out a turd gem once in awhile. i bet we could google a rock n roller with the same charge. i cant think of an opera singer that turned to murder..but some think opera is a form of slow murder to the ears.

I only like or understand a small portion of rap but some of the freeflow battles are incredibly skillful.
They have to quickly keep sentences and rhyming lyrics precisely coordinated and structured on the fly, while adding in their own flavor of personalized response to whatever the other guy just insulted them with, even if there are limited subjects.
Like it or not there is some linguistical talent there even though the material is usually degenerate.

I'm a grumpy old man and have zero rap in my CD collection but have to admit I am impressed when they are doing free form and able to strings words together.

Again I am ignorant of that type of music but I would guess just like RnR there are good and bad performers.

Dr. Seuss was the greatest rapper of them all, he just wrote it down and never used profanity.

I have zero appreciation of (C)rap "music" but I feel the same way about most of the heavy twang country and western music or opera. It does not make it wrong or bad, just something I do not want to hear. Every rap song I have been subjected to was pure gibberish, with just a profane word or two that I could understand. Kinda like the ZZ Top song, Ten Foot pole, only I like that song.
