Fook.

But I'm not sure. I've only had it said to me "fook yo."

This isn't a close friend... someone I know from a couple of FB groups. I think he said it's supposed to be "universe"... or maybe "friendship." I have no experience with Chinese or Japanese but it's never looked right to my untrained eye.

Modern Japanese and Korean writing is based on the old style Chinese characters, so there is some commonality between the written languages. Someone from China in their 40s or older learned enough of the ancient writing to be able to read Japanese and Korean, even though the spoken languages are completely different. Those aren't real characters from any Asian language. They may be stylized from the original characters that are supposed to mean something, but those are not authentic characters.

You mean someone from Japan and Korea can read Chinese, not the other way around.

I think that FB friend is either full of s..., pulling your leg, or is dumb as a brick and does n't know that is a sexual graphic meant to look, at first glance, like Asian writing. It works, because to your untrained eye it appears to be a legitimate form of writing.

I think they can all read each other's language. I know a Chinese who can read the old style characters can read or at least understand a lot of modern Korean and Japanese. I think it works the other way around, too, but I don't know for sure.
