I think they can all read each other's language. I know a Chinese who can read the old style characters can read or at least understand a lot of modern Korean and Japanese. I think it works the other way around, too, but I don't know for sure.

Now that doesn't look Chinese to me, haha. I can read traditional Chinese to a certain extent, and some Japanese kanji characters are the same. Korean is a whole different ball game.
