All went well today on the safe relocation endeavour. Barely enough lift to get it into the bed of the truck - so when I got to the storage unit, the weight of the safe had pushed it further down into my bed liner a bit so I had to re-tie the straps tighter to get enough lift and that did the trick.
I made a second trip to bring the door using a hand truck for it. Sucker was heavy! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738099962.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738099962.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738099962.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738099962.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738099962.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738099962.JPG |

Went up the mountain today,(technically fix-it-ing my pathetically weak quads... I only made 3 runs) I'm pretty shot this evening, tomorrow ought to be a real hoot!
Then I came home to put fixtures and trim into the basement bathroom remodel, and ate a BBQ beef rib for lunch.... winning, but exhausted... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738199267.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738199267.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738199267.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738199267.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738199267.jpg |

I like dawn to clean my windows and hands. Simple green on the car chassis anything under the painted surfaces. R3 for all the rubber scuffs on the paint. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738200121.jpg Anyone try this degreaser? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738200148.jpg So fixing up a race car. New Brodix Heads flow well and were tuned on the Westec dyno. On the dyno Carb actually was a Holley 750cfm. Found a cracked ignition pick up magnet in the distributor. Timing was jumping from 24 to 44, difficult to diagnose when driving, would of just felt down on power on track. Good torque for getting off corners. Needed some clutch parts, small rock got jammed in it. Ordered new slicks. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738200223.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738200236.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738200392.jpg |
So Ted, why American iron over porsches on the track?

Refinished a a parking brake lever and flap handle in cerakote. Here's the lever[. I broke it all down an coated it then reassembled it only to discover the pawl doesn't engage the ratchet arc.... welding more material onto the little begger today.

Turned out the pawl on that lever handle was worn and wouldn't engage the ratchet arc. I removed it and mig'd some weld onto it, and ground it to a suitable profile. Now it makes the most satisfying clicky clacky sound and works like Mr Piper designed it to... also got the trim system installed.

I know exactly what your talking about... that's the way the plans are drawn, and believe it or not, that's a $70 spring. It's made to engineering drawings and at this point a trim spring failure isn't something I've heard of.
Besides, the mountain of paperwork to get a double spring passed as an stc would be mind numbing. |
Nice work, Guy!
Love the race car, Ted! I replaced a landscape lighting transformer tonight - took all of 5 minutes! ;) Sorry no pics... |
Thanks Baz.... had a good day today, I was able to move pretty smoothly from one task to the next. It isn't something that happens very often.

I am planning on using my car tomorrow to go get a train car I bought off C-list yesterday. Since I hadn't driven it in about a month I thought I should start it and drive it a little today.
Well, the best laid plans as they say...it started to crank and then it didn't. 11.46 volts on the VOM. Tag on the battery says 3/22, 3 year free replacement battery from Wally world. So I spent the morning removing the battery, taking it over to WW and having them test it. Can't hurry the machine, it'll take an hour sir. I go do some shopping, both there and driving to some other stores too. Get back, test is just finishing up and................................REPLACE BATTERY in red letters. YES! They give me a battery with a 1/25 tag on it and tell me its warranty will start on 3/22 since it has been replaced already once before. I don't care, it'll get me thru the next three years as I'm going to be using it a lot more going down to the SD Zoo to take pics of the animals. All it cost me today was my time. Didn't even get my hands that dirty either. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738530330.jpg It could have been a lot worse, like if it were raining or I was out and about someplace other than in my garage with nice 75* weather. Second time it's happened that way to me too. Last time it was the wife's car. |
My latest in driveway snow management.
I tried a walk / push behind blower,,NO THANX ever again! This was cheap enough, just needs lots of atn to the little things. Belts, hydraulics, electrics, etc etc . http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738532760.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738532829.jpg |
Ok... that's cool.
I wish I could find one |
I installed 25 mm wheel spacers on the rear wheels of the 86 911. Looks so much better.
Replaced the door handle cable on the daughter’s 2010 Tahoe. I could not find one locally, so I got one from Amazon the next day/today. Since I had everything apart, it took me about 30 minutes to replace it. Edit. When I took everything apart, Friday afternoon, I pulled a window track guide(but I didn’t need to in hindsight). I spent an hour trying to get it back into place Friday, to no avail. Today, I said screw it and cut an opening, so I could see what was going on. I was able to get the window track guide installed in 10 minutes. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738546648.jpg |
