Been building a small parts Spray Booth. I will skin the inside and outside with .090” Plastic Wall Paneling. Add an exhaust fan to the lower ice-chest.

Picked up my deck boards today so will finish that job this weekend.
Also, my Trane XE80 furnace draft inducer exhaust vent motor starting making some noise last night so I shut her down and have a replacement coming tomorrow. Never did that job but looks straight forward enough. I sprayed some Kroil on the sheet metal fasteners and will wire brush before trying to back them out. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1700865903.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1700865903.JPG J238-138-1344 - ClimaTek Furnace Draft Inducer Exhaust Vent Venter Motor Fits American Standard |
Continuing Thread: What Are You Fix-It'ing Today?

Today, I worked on a few different things at the same time. I know is sounds strange, but as I progressed through the day, I was able to do a little on three when the was down time on one or two. For the pool enthusiasts, stand by to be entertained- Anyway, I guess I am the only person who can take delivery of a hot tub and screw up the water chemistry SO BAD…… I had to change the water out in less than a month. In my defense, I was following the destructions to the letter from the spa shop where we purchased it from and look where that got me…[emoji51][emoji849]. In an attempt to understand things better, I did what everyone else does and ended up on YouTube trying understand water chemistry and hot tubs and determined that everyone has different theories on how to maintain your tub so it has crystal clear water[emoji2371]. I have never had a pool or hot tub before so I am the epitome of the NOOB. If I take the time to get involved in something, I try to learn as much as possible. I have never been wired to not care and if I’m gonna do it, try to do it right. Nothing gets my goat more than “todays” attitude of “it will do”. Ok, so at the month mark, I was suppose to add a bottle of this enzyme stuff to the water but only if it is crystal clear. In my opinion, the water seemed to have a slight haze, but not too bad. Ive been communicating with the spa shop and showing the test strips to inquire what direction I need to go and was told to add this and that. Basically I felt I was chasing the chemistry curve all over the place. I nearly used up the bottle of sanitized following the shops directions and I made a run to the shop for more Saturday afternoon. When the guy at the shop looked at me funny and then proceeded to tell me the bottle that came in the start-up kit should last 90 days, I figured I am doing things very wrong. Per the instructions, I am suppose to add one tablespoon after EVERY use. It’s like any new toy, you’re gonna use it nightly. The tub is only 290 gallons but this is what they are telling me. Locally, we have a store that caters to pool supply and I elected to take some of my water in to see if they could test it a little more accurately than these little strips. OMG! After running the water through a couple different instruments, I got the results. Let’s just say that my sanitizer levels were so high that it exceeded the computers print range on the “free chlorine” scale. Here in Placerville, I will be the first to admit that EID pumps very good water to our house so this issue of me chasing my tail is my own doing. So I drained the tub, wiped the inside down, hosed it out and started fresh. I will be taking a sample down to Leslie’s Pool Supply so I can get a base reading on the quality of the water straight from the house and start over. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...74466a04ba.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6366ec25ea.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...eafbb6498a.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...07f1e2512f.jpg While the tub was draining and filling, I was able to service our Honda Pioneer SXS. New K&N air filter, oil change w/filter and installed the KFI snow plow mount for the coming snow. I’m tired of shoveling so I am hoping this will help. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e594938634.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...98a505a165.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...490a897b79.jpg Finally, I used a scotch bright to knock off some paint flakes on the 912. This past winter caused moisture build up under the tarp(I know, I know). I am making a pvc crown to provide an air gap to help with this issue. It really sucks not having a garage… Hit the roof with some primer to keep the surface rust from getting worse.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...28f73c761e.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1c2caf1452.jpg Cheers Back to working for da man tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Built this very handy 2' x 4' outfeed table for my table saw using a folding leg hardware kit from Rockler. This will get a lot of use. Having to fabricate a standoff for the mounting brackets so that the table clears the pinion fence on the saw - parts ordered to mount the standoff to the tube steel saw frame.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701025599.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701025599.jpg This will be a huge upgrade from this flimsy work support that I have been using for years. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701026142.jpg |
Congratulations on the payoff bugz! You definitely earned it.
|
Mthomas, will you rabbet the top to allow the miter guages to be used when the table is in place or just detach it if you are cross cutting?
Nice addition. I should do the same. Best Les |

Installing cheap Chinese Android head unit into my wife’s W211. This is not like all the other car audio head unit installs I’ve done. The car uses fiber optic cables from head unit to amp, so I need a fiber optic (MOST) decoder box. It also uses Canbus, so I need a Canbus decoder box. Removing the CD changer, need a fiber optical terminator so there’s not an “open circuit” in the MOST system. Ugh. I’ve gotten the head unit wired up and running, now tracking down why I can play music but have no sound. Something awry with the MOST decoder box I think, I hope.

I have an ancient blow-molded Santa and Reindeer that get put up on the roof for Christmas. Seems something fell on Santa and smushed the heck out of his sleigh during summer. Yay zip ties!!! Going to be an amazing recovery. I sort of amazed myself. That’s all.

Got the new draft inducer exhaust vent motor installed. Not a big deal even if you've never done any HVAC work before. Nice to be able to get this in 2 days from Amazon too!
I need to make a HD run tomorrow though and see if I can pick up a new duct connector piece as my old one has some metal deterioration. I have some gorilla tape on it for now but won't be running the furnace until I replace it with the new duct section, which hopefully they will have. And yes I know I have the inside piece on the outside - it's OK I'm replacing the whole thing anyway....;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701059816.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701059816.JPG |

I just ordered one of these from Amazon and think it will work. I'm still going to HD today to see if I can get one or if not some tape suitable for heat until the Amazon part arrives. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701092157.jpg |
Well, I was able to source the exact same part at HD and for less $ too so cancelled my Amazon order.
Got the new part in and taped up. Just in time for some 40 degree nights! :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701131104.JPG Nothing stops a train! ;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701131104.JPG |
A big thank you to whoever serviced my truck before I bought it.
When I bought it, it had 120,000 on it, and one of the rear shocks was covered with oil. They were both sort of rusty, so I figured they might be original. They weren't. They've been replaced, and whoever did it put anti-seize on the bolts, and everything came apart like it was brand new. I had both changed out in nothing flat. No hammers, no torches, no trying to cut the old bolts. Now the weird thing is, both still have gas pressure, even the one that was leaking. I'll have to take a trip and see if the ride is any better. |
First good snow fall of the season here... 14" on the driveway from yesterday to the start of blowing today. It compacted overnight to 12"... thick but not wet. Had to replace the thrower belt and a shear pin broke right at the end... 6 hours with a break for lunch.... awesome day... The grandkids and I will be skiing after the next storm system moves through !http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701557408.jpg
