Are Wedding Showers for Chicks, Dudes, or Both?

I'm having a debate at work about an upcoming Wedding shower for a co-worker.

I personally hate going to Wedding showers or baby showers. This particular invite came with details about all the games that will be played. I don't want to go to this one as I really need a day to myself; been working every weekend for a couple of months but I'm being shamed by my peers. I have no problem sending a nice gift.

I prefer the old way; Wedding Showers are for Chicks, Bachelorette Parties are for Chicks, Bachelor Parties are for dudes + Stripper.

Any Opinions.

Correction - I've been told to stop calling this a bridal shower - it's a wedding shower. To me; same thing (changed my verbiage above).

The only bridal shower I went to was my wife's...a five minute meet and greet for the out-of-towners.

The estrogen cloud was dense that day, my friend.

Never heard of a straight male going to a bridal shower . For what reason ? Unless oral favors are on the table no male in his right mind would go !!!

This is a disturbing trend with some of the younger set. They are much more sensitive than we were/are.

This coed bridal shower trend popped up several years ago... For my parents generation it was strictly for the ladies, I'm a pretty open minded guy and got roped to attending one or two baby showers and was squirming through the whole thing. In the future will send wife with a gift and stay at home.

I went to something billed as a baby shower for the dad. We thought that was a bit strange but we bought a gift for a baby and went. Turns out they wanted gift for the dad, like tools?!?! Very strange.

I have heard of Wedding showers - for couples. Guests bring the Bride-to-be pretty things, and they bring the Groom things that do work - yard tools, power tools, etc.

That is what the gift table at the wedding reception is for

I don't begrudge the new generation for having coed bridal/baby showers but as for me I will leave such activities to the ladies.

Men are occasionally allowed to attend the wedding.

Vash, one of my good friends is single, 52 years old, reasonable fit and totally bald.

He says that dating for him is super easy these days. He says any man that takes a shower, wears clean clothes, has a job, and a house, and a car that is not a total POS will have ladies fighting for a date. Evidently finding men that are intelligent, and have the items listed above are rare.

He just practices catch and release program with the ladies.

I am so happy I have been married for 27 years and going strong. I would not want to date again. Yech.

I am done having kids but was right on the cusp of the era of man being right there watching in horror as a playground was turned into a battle field.

I would have much preferred to be in a waiting area smoking a cigar, drinking some whiskey and boasting how strong my seed is.

Men are basically woman with penises now.

hopefully you go and get to play the plunger in the toilet paper roll game, that one is a fav among all the sexes.

Just go and get blasted drunk, that would be the best plan. It will be like you are on vacation even though you are not.
