I discovered how to get Comcast to be more responsive
Had a LOT of trouble with them, routinely have no internet at the house and have been trying to get them to do something. Finally decided I need to cut them loose, and the gal tells me it is 60 days from the time I say I have had enough. That seemed excessive, but, "It is our policy, nothing I can do." Chafed my ass enough that I filed an FCC complaint. Less than 24 hours later, some VP in charge of unhappy campers called me and was ready to do anything he could to make me less unhappy.
Moral of the story: Comcast does not give a tinker's dam what their customers think, but they pay attention to FCC complaints.

60 days? Sounds like they're banking on customer inertia or just want 2 months billing for free

That reminded me to call Comcast to get a lower rate for internet. As soon as I finished agreeing to a 12 month program, the internet went down. Fortunately, just for a minute. Funny.

They were giving me **** about returning equipment because they wanted me to reactivate even after I told them that I had moved outside their service area. After about 90 days someone finally called that was smart enough to tell me where I could mail a modem. I will never do business with them again.

If stop watching racing I could give up cable TV. Unfortunately I have too much time on my hands and need to be entertained. I think they would screw my eyes out on the internet if I dropped the TV part anyway so I pay $123/month.

I told the cable company that covers my business that I was going to call the FCC because my internet was always down and I could not take credit cards or online orders. her response "they are not going to fix your internet" cancelled the next day and they sent my a $400 bill for early cancellation Still have not paid it and never will

Any business that requires constant coercion to get them to live up to their contractual obligations is one I don't want to be involved with.

Someone told me that they pay $180 for comcast. I told them I thought 180/year was good. When they told me it was per month, I couldn't believe it. It's been decades since we've had cable. It sure made our $30/month for DSL and $10 for netflix sound a whole lot better. My kids also put in some of their friend passwords for hbo, hulu, etc so there's plenty to watch.
Our DSL only goes out if the power does. Otherwise it seems to be very stable. The other thing is the rate has stayed the same since we signed up almost 20 years ago.

25Mb down. Not huge, but we can be streaming Netflix while I work via VPN with no problems.

I discovered how to get Comcast to be more responsive
Years ago in the stone ages of Bell telephone monopoly and no other choice I had a issue with my telephone. Obviously, land line since it was decades before clew phones.
I don’t even remember the problem, it has been too long. I ended up writing a letter to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, which regulates all monopolies in the state. A week later that entire issue was resolved, and I got an apology from them.

I've previously written the Michigan AG a couple letters of complaint against an online ticket monopoly which tried bait-n-switch on me, and a phone company which advertised coverage but didn't work anywhere in this solid 4G city.
The AG should be made aware of which companies are doing dishonest business within the state. Both times the company quickly wrote well-composed (expensive) response letters, and sought a quick resolution. |
