Yep. You may not like flippers but most buyers want to buy a car. They don't care who is selling it and in a lot of cases, buying from a flipper or car salesman is easier than a private seller with emotional attachment to the car. I bought a car from a private seller and it took a lot to convince him to accept my cash. He kept on worrying about counterfeit bills, getting robbed, tax implications, ect.

I think I got the website fixed. The content was being pulled from several servers and now it should be all off of one godaddy server.

You need to dump most of the artsy photos. I know more about you than the car. You are selling your car, not your life.

Personally, I think that you need to do a lot more work. I didn’t see any history on the car, although I’m sure there is a good story to tell. The very few detail shots of the car are poorly lit; you need far more of them and far better quality. There are quite a few of the artsy photos I would lose, most of them don’t help your cause. As far as the information about you and your other cars, a little information about you is fine, there’s absolutely no reason to have the other cars on your website.

Bottom line, when I log on see a few random pictures of a car but I learn almost nothing about it. That’s not how you sell a car.

Email an offer on the car??

I think this guy is immune to all good advice. This car will eventually wind up on BAT after it doesn't sell using the owner's brilliant tactics for quite some time. There is always the small chance that some collector looking for an early turbo will find out about this car and its website and contact the owner but otherwise, it's not going anywhere much.

There are certain immutable laws for selling anything...it needs to be presented well and marketed to the greatest number of potential actual buyers, WITH AN ASKING PRICE. Wtf should I have to guess what someone wants for their old car or house or business for sale? It's a simple transaction, why fk it up like this?

He wanted opinions, he got them.

1. "Photos and More Info" should take reader to detailed car photos only. Add a link on that page navigating to the artsy photos
2. Put the asking price front and center on the home page
3. Your URL is probably worth something too!

Here's an ad that I posted on Pelican for one of my turbos when I sold it. It cost me nothing more than a few hours of my time. This is sort of the bare minimum I'd expect in an ad; a lot of mine have been more detailed than this one.

This is the kind of information that gets a car sold. I had more pictures and documentation than what I posted here; this served to just get a dialog started with potential buyers and the rest of the details were sent privately.

No. I’m not sending a damn email to play please please do me the honor of sharing how big a check you want me to write. It’s not an auction. I’m not sharing life stories to get to a number. Post the ****ing price so I can decide if I have any interest in it or if you are dreaming. Weed out those who aren’t interested up front.

“Click for pictures and more info.”
And then there’s no info.
Just some bloody useless artsy photos.
And I don’t care if you’ve had a million other cars. I’m looking at the site because of one. I want to see details of that one.

The other guys posts are way better from a pictures standpoint. But even there I’d want the price front and center.

I have not had the opportunity to add the stack of details and provenance of this car. I’ve been busy with work, farming, and kids.

I do appreciate the feedback that I have gotten, and especially the feedback that the website didn’t work on everyone browsers. Go Daddy fixed that for me. The website is otherwise unchanged from when I first posted here about it.

The next steps are to add the details about the car, add some interior photos, and some undercarriage photos.

I will dial back the ‘about me’ part of the website.

I’m not selling a Toyota Camry here or a $60,000 car. The market has changed since 2009 so the marketing strategies for a car such as this have changed as well. I’d like to get ~$200k for the car but am open to reasonable offers. I know the market has softened on these since 2014 but counter this by being willing to work with an overseas buyer.

It might wind up on BAT or at an auction, who knows?

I appreciate any and all feedback on this even if the feedback comes across as turd tossing...

$200K was 2 years ago. $130 to $150K is today's market.

I remember that car and that ad. It was done really well initially minus the photos being taken in low light which you followed up on later.

I remember it because I absolutely love that color. "I'm looking for low to mid $30s", F me.

Just because they are international doesn’t make them stupid. Overseas buyers know the market and how to ship a car. They buy at market rate, wire the money and call their shipping people to pick up the car. It might cost them $2-3k to ship but they don’t pay a $50k premium to buy from a US seller.

The turbo craze has definitely cooled.

Does that 2009 buyer still own it ?
