What's with game 1 not being until next Monday?
|
Arena schedules are set in advance based on series going seven games...

You need to spoof your IP, make it look Canadian. |
Last night's game was in the realm of a "no doubter" (if'n there is such a thing). From the initial puck drop,
there was an almost palpable sense of the inevitable; the undermanned sharks were toast. I must confess I do feel a bit for Jumbo, & echo Joe's sentiments re: his future. This series shapes up to be pretty decent as neither team has any distinct or perceivable (from my jaundiced perspective) advantage over the opposition. Both teams match up well in nearly every phase of the game save for a slight edge to Da Broons PP. OK Gentlemen - so what the hell do we chat about for the 6 days? Cheers JB |
Rod: technically it was a lick...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1558550293.jpg Personally, I admit it was goofy and gross but he is an agitator and I think it was fun only because he is on my team. But lets leave that for the other thread specifically for all the Marchand haters. In the meantime, Rask is hot. +1 Bruins Binnington has to overcome the pressure of going to the finals for the first time. +1 Blues The B's have numerous top and 2nd line players that have been to the finals and many of them have hoisted the cup so less pressure. +1 Bruins The Blues have only 5 days rest as opposed to 10 days with the B's. +1 Blues The B's are top seed so will have more home games. +1 Bruins Because the B's start game one at home they will have a greater overcome the rust from a long wait. +1 Bruins Heck, I admit I am biased. My choice: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1558550766.jpg |
Blues in 6. Maybe.
They've waited a long time...they are due. Bettman dodged a bullet; if the Sharks had won in seven the 'hand pass' would have haunted the league like Buffalo Dallas and Brett Hull in the crease. |
Here's a sad thought , we are four to seven games away from the season being over ........
|
Man what a buzz kill you are!
|
Bruins had their way with St Louis as an expansion team. Now they are finally on even footing.
Last place to Stanley Cup champs; good story. Marchand wins again: not so popular. |

May the best team win.
Toronto is out, so another successful season in my books. May the curse continue. |
Marchand doesn't worry about popular. He was quoted "They don't "boo" nobodies". He is an elite skills player who is also a pest, agitator, a "rat" if you want. His job is to get under your skin and then score while you are thinking about it. He is the one everyone loves to hate but wishes they had someone like him on their team.
The Bruins don't worry about popular. They focus on winning the next game. But lets get back to the playoffs. Both have honed every skill possible to give them the best shot at doing this. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1558561231.jpg |

Okay Por_sha911 you got me, you know I am a big time hockey fan, and yea, I have watched the playoff's religiously.....You win, well the Bruins win. The gig's up for STL. Since we were talking about the market earlier today, my reason for the Bruins pick is simple.... Mean Reversion... Bennington and STL are playing like a stock that's over bought. They're so far above their moving average that they have to fall back to earth. Yea I know... the market can stay irrational longer then I can stay liquid, but if I have to make a pick.... The Bruins are a layup IMO. Very happy for Rask, he's been UFR.
Years ago, I met Craig Berube, I played pick up with him and many of the Flyers back in those days. I am very happy for him, I didn't think he did a bad job in Philly as a coach. Its amazing to me that my beloved Flyers have been a non entity in the NHL for a decade now. New GM, new Coach... we'll see. My family had season tickets from 68 until the middle 00's when I gave them up. I go to 6 or 8 games a year, I have a friend who works for the team and I'll "find" some box seats every few weeks with my name on them. I never thought I would say this.... I just don't care much anymore. The Kate Smith thing was the last straw for me. I think the kid Hart might be the real deal but I need to see an 82 game season. They have some other interesting parts but I found the Islanders to be a more interesting team to watch. |
The Flyers could be a dark horse next year because they've dropped the ball so many times and having Hart and new leadership is like going out on race day with an untested setup - you don't know what you'll end up with. Look at how the Isles slipped under the radar for so long.
In the meantime, I want to be the first to say about a Cup final series game this year: I can't believe how the refs blew that call last night! They must be blind. (Sadly, you know it usually happens. I figure I might as well get it out of the way now. Kinda like throwing a golf ball into the lake before taking the shot...you golfers will understand) |
