I thought McElheney was excellent last night. The fact that he played very very well and they still lost speaks to the Bruins dominance.

Funny that Carolina picked him up from Toronto on waivers, while Toronto had terrible back-up goaltending.

Not funny if you are a Leafs fan. I think this brought the whole team down and they carried it into the playoffs. That and the Nylander mess.

De Canes got schooled by Da Broons. An interesting stat in the eastern playoffs that may augur "not well" for the B's.
All teams which swept a series lost their succeeding rounds. Insofar as Metropolitan teams go; the "sweepor"
became the "sweepee" & the B's made the trifecta a fait accompli in becoming conference champs.
Hats off - Da Broons (with more than a little help from some guy named 'Tukka') were easily the better
team last night & are worthy of their latest title.

Just hoping for a "clean" result to night.

Cheers
JB

Wasn't Rask in the Leaf organization as well?

rfuerst911sc 05-18-2019 02:34 AM

Well it's now a 3 game series for the Sharks and Blues . Predictions ?

Por_sha911 05-18-2019 05:37 AM

No prediction but I'm hoping it goes 7 and is brutal all the way. That will wear down which ever opponent the Bruins face and give Chara and a chance to heal up. Something tells me Wagner may not be back till the fall.

Tuukka (correct spelling) was drafted by the Leafs.

I forget which game it was in this series, but he was in his crease near the top, his trap high to his left and open, the shot went high glove side from the low slot and straight into it. He never moved but looked brilliant, and it was because he just knew where his glove needed to be. That proves my old coach correct when he said, "Tommy, sometimes the key to a great save is being too slow to get out of the way".

Flat, you remind of the Enterprise commercial where Brodeur says his peewee team is all goalies. LOL. I have said for the last 40 years that without the goalie you will not hoist the cup. Tim Thomas proved that in `11 and Rask is hopefully on his way. He isn't as much fun to watch as guys like Thomas or Hasek but we always have the potential for Marchand to come up with something to stir the pot.
Hey did anyone notice March got a goal and assist in game 4? :D

Even Keith Jones on NBCSN says he likes Marchand.

The 2-1 game last night tells me that this could go either way.

Por_sha911 05-18-2019 06:15 AM

BTW, I still don't know who Rod is calling "Kissy boy". Crosby is not a goalie.

rfuerst911sc 05-19-2019 11:49 AM

1st period almost over , Blues have been a good road team so far and are up 1-0 . But Sharks have shown they can strike quickly . Good game so far .

rfuerst911sc 05-19-2019 12:44 PM

As Dandy Don used to sing on MNF " turn out the lights the parties over " on this game . Anything is possible but I think the Blues have this game in hand .

flatbutt 05-19-2019 03:04 PM

Da Broons are getting a YUGE rest, but how long is too long hmmmm? and yes that was an epic beat down.

Love not seeing some crap call help SJ win the last two.

Agreed! And that was a whoopin' today. ;)

Por_sha911 05-19-2019 07:02 PM

So is this the end of the Sharks or will we see a Game 7?

Hawkeye's-911T 05-20-2019 09:14 AM

A well rested Broons team must be salivating at the prospect of facing
whomever emerges victorious in the western final; a battered & bruised bunch.

A game 7 is a sword that could cut two ways. Yes the West won't be as rested as Boston but Da Broons need to find a way to keep their edge.

rfuerst911sc 05-21-2019 02:57 AM

So what do you think guys ? Do the Blues close it out tonight or do the Sharks stay alive for a game 7 ? I agree with Flat there is a ragged edge of " we're well rested and hungry " vs. " we're too rested and have lost our edge " . It's a big challenge for the coaching staff of the Bruins to work them hard enough in practice to keep their edge . And not to believe the press clippings ! If the Bruins continue to work hard and work as a team they will be very hard to beat , especially if Rask just picks up from where he left off .

1990C4S 05-21-2019 04:05 AM

I predict a game seven. With the Blues winning the series.

flatbutt 05-21-2019 05:30 AM

SJs offense has gone a bit MIA lately and they have gotten some real breaks. I'm calling the Blues go to the finals, 6 or 7 IDK.
