New stance looks great!

BTW....I like the flag out front - you can get a solar powered LED light that sits atop the pole and shines down if you want.

I did one at my house and also my Mom's.

Amazon.....

I couldn't be happier.

I'm writing here because I don't have any social media accounts of any kind.

No Facebook
No Instagram
No Twitter

No nuttn!

But I can barely contain my excitement. I told a few Non-car guys and they had no clue what I had said and no clue of the relevance of what and WHO did the work on my car. THEY HAD NO CLUE. I guess its not their fault as they arent really car guys.

I know youz guy are! So I don't mean the a Richard Head kinda guy but I wanted to share my excitement with someone that actually understands!

So I happen to live within 40min of Burbank CA. 3 hours away during commute times on a Friday. I chose the 3 hour route because I got a call that my car would be done on Friday afternoon.

Getting back to Burbank. Burbank is where Pro Motorsports happens to be. Pro Motorsports happens to be where Tyson Schmidt happens to hang his hate during the week. My bucket of 911 bolts happen to the in the same place and time as Tyson was for 3 days.

I had been texting with Tyson for a couple of years BUT a growing family kept me from being able to send my car to Tyson for him to take a look...... recently the moons and stars lined up well and Tyson had a few days open..... the tale started.

He was nice enough to meet me at his shop on a Sunday afternoon. I met him there and we talked about my vision and budget...... I left my car there.

Tyson called me a couple of days later with an estimate and quote. In a perfect world I would have been able to say, proceed my good man!...... BUT... I certainly DO NOT live in a perfect world and he and I had to have a heart to hear talk on what we can and cant do WHILE still maintaining and NOT compromising the integrity of the work Tyson does. He was open to adjusting and tweeking the game plan to fit my vision and Budget.

If some of you happen to use the search button and read about Tyson, everything you read is accurate. He is a super nice guy, understanding, patient, friendly, and very skilled. we came up with a game plan and he said he could do it in a few days.

It was!..... he was great with sending my pictures and explaining the process of what he was doing.... I assure you he had to dumb it down quite a bit as at times I had no idea of what he was talking about.

So down went the stance.... what a difference! WOW! I tried to get it to rub the wheel wells on a few on-ramps but NUTTN hit... not even close.

I am running:

15x7 in the front
15x8 in the rear....

ON A NARROW BODY 1974.

Yes I said 15x8's in the rear.

It took me 3 hours to get to his place on Friday... I didnt mind it a bit to be honest Mrs Tyson wasnt all that happy I'm sure as Tyson was kind enough to wait for me at his shop........

I owe him some beers!

Always. Struggling with a sore throat that needs to go away, but we'll be there health and logistics permitting. Just send up the bat signal when you're ready and tell us what we can bring.

My 85 came with 15 inch Fuchs, and with the lower profile tires I was forced to buy, I was too low for the street. I was scraping the tail pipe and skid plats in the front just to get in and out of my own driveway, and I was at the standard European height.

I finally gave up on the 15 wheels since decent performance tires for the rain, or road trips are just not available in the right sizes.

I went with Euromeister 17s and I have 225/45-17 front and 255/45-17 rear running the Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

Now my stance look much like yours, but I have the ride height to get in and out of gas stations and parking lots, and even my own driveway without scraping.

Good luck with your lower stance. And maybe attach to skid bars to the AC crash bar to keep your front end from getting scraped up.

I will try to find some pics of my car with the 17s.

Thanks for sharing you joy with us PreH2O. The car is looking great, that paint, the lowered stance, that nice deck lid wing ( I have the same one on my SC )

And probably best of all the ride must be tight in the twisties with the worked over suspension.

Nice seeing an older car being so cared for and ungraded. And being driven and enjoyed.

Cheers Richard

Baz,

Hahaha you noticed the Flag!

I like that light, never thought of bastardizing a stock pole! I hope the purist dont get offended.

Please send me the link from Amazon!

THANKS! I really love the changes both aesthetically and performance-wise.

GH85Carrera,

That would be the smart thing for me to do or have done as the choice in 15in rims is almost non existent, but...... i didn't so this is the way i needed to go. ive seen a few narrow bodies with the 17's and non flared..... i wasn't sold on the look.

so far so good... no scraping on driveways and no fender rubbing..... we'll see.
