A new way to SPAM us...

So they are connecting to a list serv server and then giving it a false command with a from of my e-mail account. THe command doesn't exist so it send a confirmation back to my e-mail, with the SPAM message...

Quote:
From: ETSI LISTSERV Server (16.5)

To: one of my e-mail addresses

Your command:

SUBSCRIBE 3GPP-REVIEW GET PAID TO SHOP!!! CVS, WALGREENS, BEST BUY, 7-ELEVEN,WALMART, JC PENNY, OFFICE DEPOT, STAPLES SHOPPER Working hours: Flexible Schedule. Most of the routes are done in the afternoon or evenings. You make your own schedule! For more information, visit our website and apply : www.bit.ly/2vkwOty

requires confirmation. To confirm the execution of your command, simply click on the following link:

http://list.etsi.org/scripts/wa.exe?OK=FD360040&L=3GPP-REVIEW

Alternatively, if you have no WWW access, you can reply to this message and type OK as the text of your message. If you receive an error message, try sending a new message to LISTSERV@LIST.ETSI.ORG (without using the "reply" function) and type OK FD360040 as the text of your message.

Your command will be cancelled automatically if LISTSERV does not receive your confirmation within 48h. After that time, you must start over and resend the command to get a new confirmation code. If you change your mind and decide that you do not want to confirm the command, then simply discard this message and let the request expire on its own.

X-Received: by LIST.ETSI.ORG from 172.69.62.67 (unverified) via 127.0.0.1 with TCP/IP (TCPGUI protocol, anonymous access)

Their site lists an IT help desk - https://portal.etsi.org/Help/ITHelpdesk/ContactITHelpdesk.aspx

This really does look like a relatively innocent group with a misconfigured server ...

Just like cell phones, we won't be able to (or won't want to) answer an email.
