Spacer question

Son and I are making some changes to his miata. He wanted spacers which leads to my question. Front went on okay. The back spacer does not fit because of a non metallic ring (magnet doesn't stick to at least) that is on the hub that the spacer hole is too small to fit around. Is it a spacer issue or do I remove the ring? The spacers have the bolts attached. See picture. Any advice sppreciated. Thanks

Could it be a ring from the wheels you removed? (Some multi-fit wheels have inserts)

Is the ring plastic or alloy?

It seems like a metal, not plastic. What it is made of I don't know. Thanks for responding.

Wouldn't that lip indicate the wheels are hub centric? If so you might check the spacer manufacturer to make sure the spacers are hub centric.

They sent you the wrong spacers would be my guess, are all four the same?

Yes, Miata is hub centric. It may be that the hub centering rings got stuck on the hub

If you have a digital caliper, check the ID of the spacer and the ID of the wheel. That should tell you pretty quick where the problem is.

If there is a hub centering ring, do they just pop off with a little prying or is it typically more involved. I've lost my sense of adventure regarding just pulling things apart without asking. I've cost myself many the $ with my poor skills.

Thanks everyone.

I think the little ring should be removed, IIRC, from my days with a miata.

It popped off. I put on spacer, put ring on rim and put rim on car. Seems good.
Thanks everyone.
