People can be so crappy
I ate lunch at Golden Corral (I know, a different discussion) and there were three adults (two men and one women) and two 5 or 6 years old boys at a table next to mine. All three adults had a phone in their face damn near the entire time. Kids didn't run wild but were close on a couple of occasions. The only time any of the adults put the phone down was to get on the kids. At one point one of the men told the woman she was a fn liar. When one of this kids expressed his concern about dad's language he told the kid to mind his own business.
They ran the little waitress crazy. Needed paper cups. Needed spoons. Needed refills. Needed everything. She did everything as requested with a smile on her face. The table was a mess with crap all over the floor. And they didn't leave a penny tip. As I was about to leave I asked about the tip and she said none, smiled and shook her head. I gave her a 5 spot and said that was for them. She shook her head and said no but I just got up and left. I lose more faith in society each and every day. |

Just because you can have kids doesn't mean you should . There is too much stupid in society already we don't need to add to it . Smart phones are helping a LOT of people be stupid

Just be thankful you aren't their landlord or neighbors.

Just throw a MAGA hat on them and then throw them out of the restaurant.

Just when somebody is committing the most horrifying act, somebody else is laying down their life for people they don't know. It's a pretty wide range. As long as we have humans, we will deal with that entire range.

Years ago, I pulled into a Barnes & Noble parking lot. I pulled into the second spot from the end of the row. As I was pulling into the park, I saw a minivan hurtling down the row from the far end, but still at least 7-8 parks down the aisle from this park and with no turn signal on. I hadn't seen it until I was pulling into the park because I had come from the close end of the row and practically pulled straight into the park because the rows were angled. I guess she had seen the spot from the next row over and was trying to get to it. She stopped behind my car, honked and flipped me off. She had a young girl, probably 10-15 in the car with her. I was thinking to myself, "what a great role model."
I see lots people that act like asses in restaurants. Years ago, my MIL and her husband took us to a nice restaurant (nice ambiance, live piano, everyone dressed nice, etc...). They drank and got more and more obnoxious to the server as the night wore on, and the missus and I got more and more embarrassed. I think the bill came to $250-300 for the 4 of us, and they paid as it was their treat. I don't remember exactly, but I think they tipped something like $10-20. I was mortified as was my wife. When we went to the parking lot, I made some excuse to go back in and left another $40 on the table which was all of the cash that we had. I don't think we went out with them again for another 10-15 years.

well it's already been more or less said...but if I wanted to find the worst in humanity and a visit to Congress was out of the question I'd probably go to a Golden Corral.

When I was in college I got kicked out of a Golden Corral type place for eating too much, twice.
We would go out mountain biking all day, figured all you can eat buffet would be perfect. Me and one other normal sized human, and two big guys. Matt from Montana was a skinny 6'5" and ate like he had a hollow leg. Randy, who was a 6 foot tall Samoan guy with a neck like the average guys waist, ridiculously strong. He broke the frame of his Klein, bottom bracket could not handle him pushing on the pedals. Cracked the replacement at the seat post, not sure how that was even possible. He ate about like you would expect a man like that would, prodigiously. You could fit four plates on a tray. We were going back to fill up our trays a third time and the manager is standing there with his arms crossed and a not very welcoming look on his face for a guy ostensibly in the service industry. "You guys have had enough." "We already paid though, and are still hungry." "You need to go. There is no way you ate that much food, you must be stealing it somehow." "These cycling shorts don't even have pockets, where would we be putting it?' "You going to go or do I call the cops?" Pretty sure Randy could have handled however many cops they would have sent, but we left. Went back a month later and the guy points to the right to refuse service sign and points to the door, did not even say a word to us. Guess we should have waited longer to go back, but there are only so many all you can eat situations available |

Though my father wasn't rude to wait staff, his standard tip was a quarter when he paid. I went back many times to leave more.

My roommate when I lived in Orlando was this Hawaiian cat, he was a Jazz Trumpet player and worked all around the Orlando area playing gigs. He has a small band that would work Cruise ships, lounges etc, he hustled to make a living. One day my roommate, and 2 of his band mates met up at a Golden Corral for dinner, my roommate was giant ass Samoan looking dude. Over 6' tall closer to 300 lbs than 200. The drummer was just a huge fat standard white guy. I was made fun of because I eat like a bird, these guys were going up for more and more and more and more food like 5 trips with overflowing plates each, I ate one plate and was done. They told me Golden Corral was serious business and I was not taking it seriously. Then they would all laugh at me. I am still amazed we did not get kicked out. BTW- That Hawaiian cat and I used to work out together, he could bench press 400+ lbs like it was nothing. some days we would go out behind the gym and do wind sprints, that giant ass MFer could run as fast as me, it was like watching a Tractor Trailer moving as fast as a sports car. He defied logic.

There was a GC that I would pass by near the house. 2-3 tour buses in the parking lot all the time. I don't see how they could stock the kitchen and cook the food fast enough to feed all those people. There were trucks in the back and buses in the front and these big fat eating machines inside.

We have a local PCA region breakfast every month. We move it to a different place every month, but just cycle through the different places. We have one breakfast per year at a Golden Coral in Moore, OK. They do have a good parking lot which is very important to us.
It is hard to screw up a breakfast so it is not bad, but it is expensive for just a breakfast unless you are a real pig. It is weird that some people assume that a tip is not expected. They have the waitress bring the coffee, and water, and clean up after we leave. I always leave a tip. Usually the waitress looks like they could use a few bucks. No doubt it all goes into the tip pool and is divided up in some form, but that is just a guess. It is not a place I would go normally.
