Saved a life

At least for a while. Baby swallow left birdhouse nest too soon. On lawn, feathers not developed enough to fly. Adult swallows zooming past the poor little guy. I know.."experts" say to let nature be. But before a neighborhood cat could get it, I put it back in the nest.

Adult swallows busily feeding the chick as I type.

Sometimes, simple stuff can make one feel really good...

Last week this tortoise was in my driveway, trying to get into the back yard. That would not be a good place to go with a pair of dachshunds. He (or she) was decent size. and filled up the bottom of the 5 gallon bucket. At best he could maybe be able to hide from them, but there is nothing to eat back there but my wife's flower garden, and that was not an option. I loaded him up in the bucket, and took him a mile south to a large wooded area, next to a creek where there should be things to eat and maybe a mate.

From my driveway, if the fence kept him out of the yard, his only choice back into the street. I have no idea how he got to my driveway. It did not matter. I took him to a location where his odds of survival are much higher.

It may have been a female looking for a place to lay eggs. It is that time of year.

Saved this large spider (about 3" in diameter) that was in my mom's basement the other day. Figured he, or she got this big I would let it go in the woods behind the house.

Males don’t bite, and are much larger than the females. The males hatch first and are the first ones you will see in spring.

I saved 7 today.

Wife was out watering her flowers along the back wall. All of a sudden there is all kinds of racket from 7 kittens that were deposited under a bush sometime since she last watered which was only a few days ago. Scared her and our oldest granddaughter who was helping her water.
Called Animal Control and they came and picked them up this afternoon.
This makes 11 cats since the beginning of the year, all from the same female cat.

Wouldn't that depend on how he/she/it identifies?

Good for you Paul!

A few years ago, there was an awful racket in the tree behind the garage. Lasted all day, and into the night. Finally coaxed this little guy out (he sort of fell) and adopted him until our local Dove-Lewis took him over from us. His name was Skippy.

Anyone here save a human life? I did once and after it was all over I seriously have no idea how I was able to physically pull it off. You never know how you will react in a life or death situation until it happens. Then you don't even think about what you are doing you just act on instinct.
