Driving up North in Michigan on I75 this last weekend, you pass right by Gaylord regional airport. On the way up I could swear I saw an Air Tractor crop sprayer on floats, I assumed I was wrong, but on the way down, there it was still there. I'm sure it's an air tractor as they have such a distinctive shape. What's the point or use of a crop duster on floats?

There are several of those at the Chico Airport. The ones here are being used for dropping water for fire suppression. I am sure there might be other uses as well. They look cool and odd all at the same time. In a sorta size 15” shoe on a 13 year old kid kinda way.

That isn't an Agcat, that is a firecat. Fire suppression aircraft. We have them come through our facility all the time, new deliveries, very cool airplanes.

We did a lot of composite work for IOMAX Archangel, based on the Thrush S2R-660.

Amazingly versatile aircraft. Me want.

Amazing things in Ann Arbor:
1). Today a small aircraft, maybe a Cessna182, was flying very slow over downtown and gunning his engine hard and loud.
It was kind of unusual so I watched him for a bit.
Then something big seemed to fall off the top of the starboard wing (from my perspective).
It was a human. Oh no!
About five years ago, I had almost witnessed a Goodyear blimp crash at a 45deg into the ground, which pulled up just in time at full power.
Then another human fell. Then another. What? And then one more.
Four parachutes with flags dropped out of the sky and swirled down to land inside the UofM stadium.

2). Yesterday there was a flyover at least four times of an EC145, A Blackhawk, and a Chinook in formation and low enough to see details.
Just thunderous music.

3). Two days previous a couple of F16 flew over very fast and tight formation several times.

There called a single engine fire resource or the FIRE BOSS. Scoops on the rear of the floats channel the water to the tank, and off they go

In 1959, my family flew from Okinawa to Manila on a Civil Air Transport DC-4. Later found out the airline was a front for the CIA and their covert operations in that area. Here is a photo of klutzy me (on the left) and the aircraft during our stop over in Taipei. Love the security measures back then.

Now that is really cool. I was going to say you were on someone's retirement flight. PHX based I see.

Nice Thirty Eight and Forty. I have been trying to find the photo that made a magazine of me in the P-40, Steve Hinton in Glacier Girl, and another P-40. Must have lost the magazine - damn.

In 1959 my Air Force pilot father was assigned to the Hawaiin Territory. We flew to Hawaii from San Fransisco in a converted C-54. We all sat facing the tail of the airplane. Unpressurized, prop powered airplane. Nothing to look at but waves, endless waves.

After 8 hours or 9 hours I asked my mom if we had moved into the airplane and was this our new home? 240 MPH cruise speed. 2,400 miles is 10 hours.
