Some before and after shots. Just waiting for the owner to determine the best shade of “white” to use.

Since this pic was posted, I have been in contact with “HOOF” and a couple of great guys also members of this great forum. Very honored and privileged to have this patch and what it stands for. Looking into the best way to display both sides. |

Whole lot of throttle here.

Talked with a avionics shop yesterday. I’ve decided its time to upgrade my panel a little.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1567161579.jpg
I’m going with a ps 200b audio panel with a com radio, cost around $3000 Garmin 375 ADSB transponder/gps. $7000-$8000. Probably keeping the old Narco, May look for a used garmin sl30 nav/com. The shop will let me assist on some of the work, but still going to cost a few thousand for install. This will give me a IFR GPS, adsb, stereo audio panel with Bluetooth, and still have a ILS. But it won’t make the plane any faster. |
I'm no pilot but I love this thread. IDK if this belongs here, and for many there will be no new ground herein, but I found this to be fascinating. It also reminds me how well the airlines maintain their equipment. And finally, how robust Boeing aircraft (and the 747) really are!

Well......poop!
The flashing beacon power supply gave up the ghosts, finally. Was really hoping that the flashing beacon power supply could utilize one from a later/updated aeroflash unit, but alas it’s not working either. Since I peddle home in the dark in the wee hours of the day, it’s kinda important. Purchased a new one (power supply) from a well known aircraft supplier that was in inventory but I guess it had been sitting on a shelf for so long, the internal capacitors dried out. In reading some of the reviews, I guess it’s a common issue since these things have been sitting for years. Old https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...58fdcfd5f6.jpg Newer, less-old https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6e40160313.jpg Pesky beacon https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1e08351c7e.jpg I know that the correct answer is one of these. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2f305791c0.jpg It’s just diverting $600 towards my needed ADS-B out device, Sentry ADS-B receiver, updated skyTec key starter, new ELT, etc...... welcome to owning an aircraft.[emoji849] |

DM, May not cause it to go faster, but the interior “cool” factor will gain you at least 25 knots[emoji6] That is going to be a cool upgrade, although it will be more than the ol C-150 heavy is worth. Lol and I am squawking about a $600.00 led beacon.....[emoji849]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...88e395bcb9.jpg Here is an archaic panel to laugh at [emoji1] https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...018cacf9ad.jpg Keep us updated on the upgrade. I watched a video where an owner of a V-tail went all glass with only a couple of steam gauges as redundancies. He was able to trim 60 pounds out of the plane by just pulling all of the wiring and old crap out. Changed his CG and really looks good. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

K.I.S.S. Concept
So I was thinking about the boxy thingy that makes the flashy thingy work to make the anti collision thingy work better. Thinking more about what it was doing, it was pointing more at a connection issue. Sure enough.....it was all about the base, baby! Beacon base spring connection was loose. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2735b796fc.jpg Replaced with an extra one I had. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bba1b0d939.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a2ae60c416.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8d8fc9055a.jpg Allowed me to get back up and running for the work commute, sure beats the heck out of driving.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6d614a258f.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...660375f708.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c6d1d6d9b7.jpg |
