Except of course you're dealing with islands instead of the mainland - which will require extra logistics and coordination. Factor in also The Bahamas are not part of the US, so they are not eligible for the same federal aid. That said, it looks like so far there are plenty of parties stepping up and stepping in to assist with the effort. I think there are many who have been through this before and that knowledge will be very useful. Sorry to hear of your loss, Neil. |

The problems with places like the Bahamas and Puerto Rico are resource constraints. Where can you find and house enough workers to rebuild a devastated island where many people left and there is no place to house them. ? Places on the mainland can easily have workers drive 50+ miles to work in massive construction zones where they can then go back home at the end of the day. You would almost need a cruise ship full of workers docked in front of Marsh Harbor for months to get anything accomplished. The humanitarian support has been amazing, my brother loaded several boats and brought supplies as well. Just wondering how the rebuilding will work out. |
Texas still has not fully rebuilt Galveston either. It was wiped out. Houston took over.
Some areas will have to be abandoned in the future. This was a wakeup call for those in So. Florida who didn't get the previous alarms. My best to the Bahamas, and also Costa Rica. |

NOLA isn’t the same post Katrina. A great deal of labor went to Houston never to return.

Also there is a 2 story house at 0:40 and a 1 story house at 0:53 that both look to be in great shape. If you look in the background in a lot of places there seem to be some more modern construction homes all in pretty good shape. Which is encouraging, that means we are indeed capable of building houses that can stand up to the Worst a Cat 5 can throw at them. Yes, there is devastating destruction, I do see some silver lining, hopefully the houses that survived will teach a lesson, that area needs stricter building codes than Dade County (Miami) has, which is the gold standard here in Florida. Thanks for posting that video, I need to scour around and see if there are any video's of Scotland Cay and see if my friends old house is still there. He rebuilt it after it was destroyed by a tornado in a Hurricane, I cannot recall right now which one. The rebuilt a bunker of a house. They self insured and had over 200K in the "insurance account" when the house was leveled. |

We are working with a firm that has a Remotely piloted surface UAS that performs a number of missions. They have been in the Bahamas clearing small harbors with "Emily" equipped with sonar. They are looking at our tethered ducted fan UAS to extend the range of Emily command and control. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1568295356.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1568295482.jpg |

Florida is domed. The expert news says so. I hope there is outrage if this "forecast" turns out to be false.

I can. Also work on reading in context.* Did you see the part about Galveston? You can look up when that was and use it as a starting point.
Or in your case, "reeding" Now go back to PARF like a good little boy. |

Geeze, get a room you two. Maybe the PARF hotel on Ban Island has a vacancy.

Not sure this will work, I am on my phone.
