VW bus pricing

Any VW bus experts out there? My lifelong friend was restoring this 79 bus when he passed away. It’s pretty much gutted on the inside and full of various interior and engine parts. It runs good and is legally registered. Any guesses on worth?

I'd venture $6-8k. Kind of depends on the corrosion situation.

Thanks for the price. Very little rust. He had removed most of it before he painted it.

Yep. I had a 78 Westy that would actually accelerate on a hill.

My son has a 71 Westfalia. I mentioned that he should swap the engine from the 79 into his. He laughed....keep it original was his comment.

Subaru swaps are common enough that more than one company supplies conversion kits. Friend of mine has done 2, first one was totalled.

My friend put had a Subaru engine put into his 71 Westfalia. Took a reputable shop almost a year and over $20 grand. That thing friggin flys now. They had to do a radiator and some kind of ECU. He wanted a turbo but not enough room.
