Jesus, that guy had a lot of crap. Half the country could own something of his.

Why so many mediocre guitars, the same kind over and over and over?

Musicians are a little nuts, a lot of the time. Steely Dan was always one of my favorites.

I looked through a bunch of it, but not all of it.

Most guitars are $1-2000. Not vintage stuff but more pedestrian, regular production crap. Umpteen examples of the same thing, as far as I could tell. Why?

All the other famous guitarists that I've seen sell off a few dozen guitars they no longer need have all had nice, vintage stuff, some of which sells for a good 5 or 6 figure sum.

I don't get it.

I suspect that the family kept some of the prize vintage pieces that he owned, and probably a whole bunch of this stuff was given to him in hopes that he would fall in love and launch their brand through endorsements. I see a handful of Sadowskys that were all very nice custom guitars. He also had quite a few Dr Z amps. I wouldn't mind owning his Dr Z Mazerati or the P90 Sadowsky.

Becker was a fairly unique player with eclectic tastes and a passion for experimentation. None of this surprises me.
