For those who admire Bumgartner. Check out Luke Aikins. 25,000 feet into a net without a chute.

Bless you for that.

Both sides of my family have served this country well in peace and war; we are good to go. We made our choices and have done very well.

My wife, who suffered at the hands of an abusive father and mother, took blows to protect her brother, still found the ability to try and make her tormentors better.

From her no choice in parents to making a decision to break the cycle of violence, I remain in awe.

This reminds me of a Jimmy Buffett lyric
"Read dozens of books about heroes and crooks
And I learned much from both of their styles"

I am in awe of many people, and try to be more like them. Example: I have had the privilege of hearing talks by noble prize winners (6 at last count), every one inspirational.
I am in awe of many other people, unfortunately a growing number. Amazed at how they can, hmmm, sell so much bull$h!t without being run out of town.
I may not be buying what they are selling, but I admire their sales skill.

Mom. Female doctor when they did not really have female doctors. The few they had were Ob/Gyn or Pediatrics. She was an anesthesiologist, could not get a residency in anything but Ob/Gyn or Pediatrics in Nebraska, so she moved. When she started, she was one of two women in that field in California. She is a tough lady, iron will, and one of the smartest people I have ever known.

She may also still have the highest motor ability score for a school aged girl in Nebraska. She did when she went to her 40th high school reunion. Friend of hers worked for the state in the department that tracked those scores and told her she still was number one.

Definitely my grandson. He fought cancer for two years. I will never forget seeing him coming home from school wearing a huge backpack and a big, big smile. The backpack carried the chemo drugs and the pumps the injected them into his little body 24 hours a day. The smile - it was just him. His spirit was unconquerable. He was always happy and smiling - in good spirits to his final day.
I don't know how he did it. I would be so pissed off.
He made it almost to his 7th birthday.

For me it’s my father. He was a Holocaust survivor that lost his first wife and infant child to the gas chambers. He was strong willed and survived being shuttled from Auschwitz to Treblinka to Berkinau. He had a lot of luck along the way. I have never known anyone that was able to put so much behind him and harbor very little animosity.

Everyone involved with the return of Apollo 13. They had almost no chance to get back safely at first.
The movie showed one scene where the astronauts raised their voice in an argument. That NEVER happened. Those three heros did their duty, and the real recordings are three guys talking about what to do next at a professional level, like someone at no risk of death.
The ground crew was the folks working at 100% of the best of the best brains on the planet.
They solved an near impossible problem, in an impossible time limit.

Marcus Luttrell, and all who have stood the line and returned, as well as the ones who did not.
And then to be so humble.
