Old Man Emu shocks ?

IIRC, my brother put a set of OME springs on his 83 FJ60 about 25 years ago. We have had so many LC's that I can't definitively say if he put their shocks on too. Another one of the LC's ran the OME steering stabilizer. Good products.

been a few years but last i read up on them there were a fair number of compaints about rough ride. a quick search just now doesn't show that to be the case but i'm certain it was at the time. might've been related to a Tundra? In any event the consensus i found was 'meh'.

I spent the extra $ for OME shocks and springs for my '04 Wrangler - the change with drive feel on/off road was stunningly great. No regrets.

It really depends on your setup. OME offers so many different variations based on lift and extra weight, it's kind of a headache. Spring setups include factory/medium/heavy/J, and I believe there's different Nitrocharger shock setups too. If you are trying to get rid of the stinkbug stance and want a level one, you can mix and match too... which might cause for a stiffer ride.

My 80 is much stiffer than most of the other 80's my friends have because it's based on modifications I'm doing for the LC- Heavy/Medium setup because arb front bumper, winch, rock sliders, and 4x4labs rear bumper. I don't have the winch and rear bumper yet, so it's definitely making my current ride stiff.. but it corners so good!

It's definitely a good idea to talk to a trusted shop/seller who specializes with your particular platform to find the right setup for you.

They are good shocks but when it came time for me, I opted for Bilsteins instead. Oh yeah, it stiffen up the ride a bit

I've had their 3" lift kit on my '93 Land Cruiser

80 series? Just curious as I heard the 3" affected handling in some fashion? (and hey, grammar nazis..affect is the verb, effect is the noun )

and offset front control arm bushings

On my little lift, they weren't needed, but I couldn't figure out how to install them even if they were.

Yeah..."caster correction". Sometimes it's needed, sometimes it's not. I didn't like the eccentric bushings so I installed a pair of the Man-A-Fre drop brackets back when they were still available. But...I really didn't have any drive-ability issues - I was fighting a vibration in the front driveshaft. A double cardan front shaft solved that problem.

OME is good stuff. I've also heard complaints of a stiff ride, but the Aussies generally load their Land Cruisers down with a lot of stuff, so that makes a difference. My lift is a TJM brand (also Aussie). Very nice ride...

I'm running a 2.5" Slee lift with OME shocks on my 100 and the road handling is remarkable. I actually enjoy hustling it around the curves when I'm up in the northern part of the state.
With that said, the ride is very firm and can be disruptive when driving most of our roads here in the southern part of the state. I have a set of OEM shocks that I'll be adding once the life of the OME units start to fade (likely not for awhile).

Yup, 80 series. And yes, the 3" lift did affect the on road handling - it improved it noticably. Far less body roll when cornering than the stock suspension.

I put the "caster correction" bushings in just to be safe. I'm not convinced mine needed it. It was relatively easy, with access to a friend's arbor press and following their simple instructions. I would definitely not try it without access to a press.

And yes, mine is now significantly stiffer than it was. I prefer it that way, though. I can now carry fully assembled 911 motors in it without ass-dragging down the road.
