Yea, it’s a pretty simple equation, less calories in than your body burns = loss.
I like to eat way more than 500 calories but the 1-2 hours of exercise keeps the equation in negative numbers.

I recently had coffee with a friend from the local PCA club. He looked quite a bit thinner than I'd seen him in the last few years. He's a big dude, over 6'1" and just big. Never thought of him as fat though. He's also very active and still rows regularly having done so at the college level. He's in his 60's.

What happened? He got a shock at a doc visit a year back with an A1C of 6.6 which is basically diabetic. I'm a type 1 diabetic and diet is constantly on my mind. I recommended this guys books.

Rick Mystrom | Acknowledged Diabetes & Weight Loss Authority

He laughed as someone else had done the same and he's read through one or two of them and working to follow his advice. 6 months in his A1C is down to 6.0. He's doing great.

Kudos to all who are working on this. Diabetes is not something to fuch around with. I know, I do it daily. Keep up the great work and don't fret the daily ups and downs or occasional lapses. Slow weight loss with lasting diet and exercise changes is more sustainable.

I'm at 180lbs and walking 1.5 miles every day. No added sugar, one meal a day and 4 liters of water every day. I'm down 20lbs so far and my target is 150-160lbs, which is where I was in 1991 when I got out of the Navy. My goal is to get back into my uniform and stay at that weight, which won't be too hard for me to do. My goal is to get to my target by April and get reevaluated bu my Dr every month since I have a liver condition that I'm managing.

This came up on my Spotify playlist while I was walking the dog yesterday, part of me trying to get back into the 190's. Thought it was appropriate :-)

OK one month report, only 6 lbs - on the low carb diet

Complete waste of time for me, not to mention loss of great food.

Starting on proper eating and working out regularly tomorrow, so I'll give that a month.

I would sure like to know my cholesterol level as I'm sure with all the meat it's not good. Trying to keep it down with Metamusil

Thank goodness this month is over :D

I’m sure people will disagree with me but I had a coach that told me “a calorie is a calorie”. I think there is a lot of truth to it. Eating low on one thing won’t help you loose weight if you are just taking in the same amount of calories from something else. As a cyclist, I’ve always eaten a lot of carbs because they are easy to digest. I like meat but eating a big steak makes me want to take a nap. I think a mixed diet of all the different types of food is not only nutritious but much more pleasant than only eating bacon.

Slow but sure. Staying away from the sugar and most other carbs.

Need to ramp up my exercise. Maybe once it stops raining... :D

I eat a lot more than bacon. :D

"I like meat but eating a big steak makes me want to take a nap." This statement alone should tell you that a "calorie is not a calorie". Different foods affect you differently. And your body uses them or stores them differently.

I start my day with a 'shake' that is 24G of protein power and @2 tablespoons of Meta.
Do NOT forget, and let that sit on the counter for too long.

After doing a fair amount of real research, +1 on the Metamucil. I do 2 teaspoons in cold water twice a day with the orange flavor and adding a 1/2 **** of unfiltered natural vinegar in a lowball glass with cold water - twice a day. The idea is to limit the amount of absorption in your intestines.

Also, like the guy above my A1C was 6.5 last November. Which is really about the only thing I struggle with at 60 yrs old. I eliminated ( mostly) processed sugar and white flour from my diet. Stopped having an adult beverage on ' school nights'. Limit my number and volume of alcohol on the weekends. So far so good.

I have lost 3lbs and an inch on my waist. My daily blood sugar hovers 110, sometimes lower. On the right track and need to stay that way

A couple of years ago my A1C was also 6.6. I had no idea. I cut out almost all sweets - ice cream, cake, pie, candy, etc., etc. I allow myself a little something once in a while, but have strangely lost a lot of liking for sweets. My A1C went down to 6.2. I don't know if I can get it any lower but plan to exercise more when the weather gets better & see if that helps.

asphaltgambler 02-06-2020 10:45 AM

^^ Then you should try the Meta & raw vinegar 2X daily. Really helps over the long haul.^^^^

WPOZZZ 02-10-2020 10:59 PM

So I started the year off at 196 and now, I'm at 176. Lot 20 lbs, but 10 lb of that came while being sick with the flu. Not sure what is going on these days, but I think the weight loss is good. However, I haven't been really trying to lose weight, either. I'm probably the lightest I've been since college.

71T Targa 02-12-2020 06:38 AM

I wanted to throw in the towel this week, but knowing I was going to post results kept me going.

Down 14.1 so far so I'm 1/2 way to my goal. I know it won't get any easier, and I also know that keeping it off is a goal in itself.

After a Valentines dinner at the Oyster Bar on Chuckanut, and having to travel for work/eat out every meal last weekend I was not looking forward to weighing in today. Luckily I was still down a little for the week, and 14.6 overall.

I have cut out the "dirty" keto low carb pita wraps and am having those seltzer drinks vs light beer. 3 carb difference per can. Been strict for a couple of weeks now

Down three easy and maybe four belt loops. My legs are deflating. That's kind of odd. Odd, not that I'm getting a little bit smaller, it's the 63 year old skin that ain't shrinking with the rest of me.

From what I have read on a fitness/weight loss forum, it takes a couple of years for the skin to shrink, and for us old folks will never get tight without surgery. I'm 68, down from 208 to 170 and would like to get to 150.

My feet shrank so my shoes are a little loose.

Keep up the good work gentlemen! I like reading up these successes. Post it up!

Nice touch. Are you serious or just being a dick?
