Nice job!
I had my first flat week. I didn't even cheat so I'm not sure what happened. 01-Jan 228.2 08-Jan 224.2 -4.0 15-Jan 221.6 -2.6 22-Jan 219.9 -1.7 29-Jan 217.3 -2.6 05-Feb 215.8 -1.5 12-Feb 214.1 -1.7 19-Feb 213.6 -0.5 26-Feb 213.1 -0.5 04-Mar 211.4 -1.7 11-Mar 210.8 -0.6 18-Mar 209.3 -1.5 25-Mar 209.3 0.0 |
I'm on the Corona-weight-loss challenge apparently...
Combo of being so busy fielding calls and solving IT problems for the hospital I forget to eat, and when I cook for my kids I give them way bigger portions than mine (kind of a stress response I guess)... -6 lbs this week !!! Finally ! People say we're all gonna get fat staying home, apparently I'm wired in reverse. |
Well I'm 3 months in and at the 1/2 way mark, time wise, to my first goal.
Knowing that the first few weeks would be easier than the last I think I'm right on track to make my goal by the first of July. I'm now down 20#s from where I started on 1/1/2020. 01-Jan 228.2 08-Jan 224.2 -4.0 15-Jan 221.6 -2.6 22-Jan 219.9 -1.7 29-Jan 217.3 -2.6 05-Feb 215.8 -1.5 12-Feb 214.1 -1.7 19-Feb 213.6 -0.5 26-Feb 213.1 -0.5 04-Mar 211.4 -1.7 11-Mar 210.8 -0.6 18-Mar 209.3 -1.5 25-Mar 209.3 0.0 01-Apr 208.2 -1.1 |
Disclaimer: I have not read through every post in the thread!
BUT! If you aren't doing this now, try each morning when you get up doing 30 minutes of cardio. It helps ramp up your metabolism for the day. Then in the evening do another 30 minutes of cardio. That helps your body burn more fat while resting. I'm lucky to some degree. I don't gain weight easily and I can shed weight fairly easily when I decide to get off my lazy butt and exercise. My suggestion for you is based on reading I've done for a shredding program I was on in an effort to have 6 pack abs (no not look like a drink a 6 pack a day). I was in really good shape in my teens and never had a 6 pack no matter how much I exercised. I thought it would be nice to have in my 40's but sadly I do like 6 packs (or at least two beers in the evening) and carbs so my 6 pack is not to be. One more thing, Yoga! give it a try. |
I've had my first week with a gain. Trapped at home and ate quite a bit of (my kids) Easter candy.
Back on track now! 01-Jan 228.2 08-Jan 224.2 -4.0 15-Jan 221.6 -2.6 22-Jan 219.9 -1.7 29-Jan 217.3 -2.6 05-Feb 215.8 -1.5 12-Feb 214.1 -1.7 19-Feb 213.6 -0.5 26-Feb 213.1 -0.5 04-Mar 211.4 -1.7 11-Mar 210.8 -0.6 18-Mar 209.3 -1.5 25-Mar 209.3 0.0 01-Apr 208.2 -1.1 08-Apr 207.0 -1.2 15-Apr 208.0 1.0 |
I'm at 175lbs now and because my daily walking has been cut in half, to 30 miles a month, I expect to stay at 175lbs for awhile. My goal is 150lbs, which is the same weight I was at when I got out of the Navy in 1991.

How I'd love to be 175!
|
I was 146 in high school in 1972
Now I'm pushing 155 I'll blame it on the Virus |
Good job guys. I would recommend to take it easy with weight loss - 1 lbs a week or less - you do not want to compromise your immune system starving yourself right now.
I am down 10 lbs since xmas from 192 to 182. I cut down animal products plus stopped eating out at lunch. Now with being sheltered at home it is even easier to stay away from junk food. I want to get to 175 but 182 has been a good weight for me, I can maintain it pretty easily. 175 my body seems antsy to put weight on. (I am 6'2" with a slender build). G |
After last weeks little bump I'm back on track. I'm going to assume it was water weight. :D
Down 23.7#'s YTD, @1.5#'s a week average. 01-Jan 228.2 08-Jan 224.2 -4.0 15-Jan 221.6 -2.6 22-Jan 219.9 -1.7 29-Jan 217.3 -2.6 05-Feb 215.8 -1.5 12-Feb 214.1 -1.7 19-Feb 213.6 -0.5 26-Feb 213.1 -0.5 04-Mar 211.4 -1.7 11-Mar 210.8 -0.6 18-Mar 209.3 -1.5 25-Mar 209.3 0.0 01-Apr 208.2 -1.1 08-Apr 207.0 -1.2 15-Apr 208.0 +1.0 22-Apr 204.5 -3.5 |
^^^ Doing great...almost 24lbs is a lot. Congrats and don't push it too hard.

Not fast, but continued progress. I'm now down 25#'s YTD and that feels like a great milestone to me.

Just the highlights since I promised myself weekly updates.
Starting Weight: 228.2# Current Weight: 202# YTD Loss: 26.2# Per Week AVG: 1.46# The sub-200# goal is in sight. |
Well done sir.
I’ve read we’re moving so much less in general due to the lockdown that many people are gaining weight even eating the same and exercising the same. I’m in that camp. Burning 100 or 200 less calories a day due to less moving around without a commute etc. adds up after a short time. It’s a good you’ve been able to maintain a caloric deficit. |
Just keeping my carbs down.
For example, instead of a bag of chips, I just ate a bag of jalapeno pork cracklings. |
Weekly update.
YTD loss: 26.9 Weeks loss: 0.7 Current: 201.3 |
Broke the 200# mark today @199.7.
I need to stay on task and not let the weight creep back on. I may splurge on a apple fritter though. :D YTD loss 28.5#s |
Well done!

Question for all the successful skinnier pelicans above:
Did you notice a strange correlation time wise between dieting and weight loss ? I'm finding that I can be on an intermittent fasting + walking + no sugar regimen for an entire week and....I may even gain a little weight even though I eat less, baffling... Then 2 days of the next week, I let myself go a little due to circumstances (dining out whatever), eat normally, and the morning after that fiasco, I've lost 3 lbs ! I wanna say WTH ? It's like my body goes into "fat conservation mode" when challenged with less food, and the minute I feed it normally again it's like "Oh OK I'll release a few pounds now"... jsut curious if this is something others observed, a week or 2 delay from action to results that throws this off. I'm results driven and this is kinda pissing me off.. |
Interesting. Last March I was on 210 on my 6'2" frame. My wife bakes oatmeal, peanut butter, chocolate chip cookies and banana chocolate chip muffins. I was up to a 38" waist.
I decided to reduce the goodies and set a target of 185. 12 months later I am there. No special diet or exercise, just some will power in the kitchen. I recently had to dig out an old (shorter) belt. :) It can be done. Best Les |
