I agree with you on the score and the cinematography. I wanted more story though. it didn't feel deep enough to me.

I would have liked more story as well. More Tommy Lee Jones, more Liv Tyler, etc. This film reminded me a bit of another unpopular film that I find enjoyable (Gattica), that shows what a little more meat in the script could do.

So after all that Parasite won.

Is it a better movie than Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?

There's only one way to find out.

Thanks Shaun...well said.
I just now noticed the replies to this thread...for some reason, I sometimes don't receive the email notifications.

I suspected when starting the thread that it would turn into this.
I started the same the last two years for the awards...both times it turned into the same names..spewing their hate.
I started a thread about Richard Jewell..same thing..same names. Zeke moved the whole thing to parf.

Back to the show...a few 'firsts' for this years awards:
"In addition to becoming the first-ever international film to win for best picture, “Parasite” ties with “Fanny and Alexander” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” for the most Oscar wins for an international feature film with four. The Korean-language film nabbed wins in the categories of best picture, best director, best foreign-language film and best original screenplay."

Saw both. Parasite, I saw last summer...great movie!
I liked it much more than Once Upon a Time.

You certainly are an amusing little fellow Shaun.

Shaun @ Tru6 02-11-2020 09:55 AM

I'm going to see Parasite tomorrow night. Got tickets twice but had to bail both times. I wish Once Upon had won only so I could see it again on a big screen. It is still out but farther than I would like to drive.

Nothing political about these award shows. I stopped watching when they stopped being entertainers.

How about a financial thread ?

stevej37 02-11-2020 10:05 AM

There is a theater near where I live with 20 screens...half of the screens carry movies that are never heard of. I saw the name Parasite last year and went to Rotten Tomatoes to get a description. They rated it 99%
Highest I've ever seen on that site. Well worthy of it.

That thread started out political and remained so... go back and read through it. And I only made an interesting observation, nothing more. What was interesting is how people took the meaning which could have gone both ways. I specifically didn't favor a position because that would have been rude. And I was curious about the response.

I haven't watched the Oscars in years, but I'm going to start watching just to see what they say that so offends the snowflakes here.

stevej37 02-11-2020 10:25 AM

Bong Joon-ho mentioned purchasing a Porsche with his winnings from yesterday.
I suspect he will soon be a member here.

You're lying.

RWebb 02-11-2020 11:26 AM

moving the whole thing to PARF just enables the PARFers - and BTW note that they are the ones crapping on this and other threads

Fair enough.

Crystal was very good and that Palance trick will never be topped !

Ok, I’ll try to be more truthful. I’m going to try to rememberto watch next year to see what they say that gets the PPOT snowflake’s panties in such a wad.

pavulon 02-11-2020 12:32 PM

The Oscars itself is okay. The fawning that precedes it...pass.

I honest to God can't wait for all you bitter old men to start popping off. The world just doesn't need you.

Yep, LOL...

Hmmmm

Shaun @ Tru6 02-11-2020 01:11 PM

I know, right! LOL!

I'd love to know why you guys are so angry all the time. It's a little fascinating.

RWebb 02-11-2020 01:16 PM

a reporter signed up for a certain politician's list and got fed disinformation from the usual suspect outlets - he says he started to doubt real news and became angry himself
