You don't have to love motorcycles to appreciate this riding ability.
Every time I watch an Isle of Man TT video I'm blown away by the riders skills and BALLS. Great cockpit view of some incredible skills.

50 years of riding here on the fastest bikes money could buy (at their time), now a Harley cruiser.
No margin for error. Holy cow - no way, no how. That's nuckin futz.... Swinging some monster ones for sure.

I'm sure all the advances in technology have made IoM TT super safe.

I think I remember hearing once that the avg speed as reported by a speedo based on the rear tire is higher than the avg speed based on GPS because the back tire spends time spinning.

F1 has more G's, a lot more. So there's that, but F1 doesn't run a 30 odd something mile long lap on public roads and streets with trees and stone walls on either side.
So there's that. |

F1 G's while moving don't really come into it as they are tiny compared to the G's from hitting a house, stone wall, post box, pub, tree, sign post, bridge etc
I had a good look round a TT bike last year, there were two huge indents just behind the tank, guessing they were added to make the rider feel comfortable ![]() Those guys must leave their fear back at home as they were really racing side by side

That pass early in the video was mind blowing! The two riders seemed to be duking it out side by side at the limit. Then a third rider comes blowing by with his front wheel in the air, wow.
Cool video, thanks. Cheers Richard |

My son and I had the privilege of attending last year. Video does not do it justice. From a spectators' point of view, the speeds coupled with the proximity can be very unnerving. Granted, there are grandstands set up that are safely back from the course, but the most fun way to watch is on the sidewalk in front of a pub. It's really something else.
What really doesn't come through very well in the videos is just how terrible the road surfaces are most of the way around the "track". We thought that maybe they would put some extra effort into smoothing and maintaining the racing surfaces - they don't. We had a couple of rain days, so we had the opportunity to drive the course. Parts of it are every bit as rough as any British secondary, or "B" road you will find anywhere else. Driving the course only serves to make it all the more astonishing to see the speeds they achieve. Creg ny Baa the day of the Senior:

This makes the "Star Wars" speeder bike chase on Endor look relatively slow.

Seems like it would be wise to have an ER team standing by...and if needed, an organ harvesting team.
