Always wanted to see what the 968 would look like with bronze wheels. So I plastic dipped the drivers side today. Not sure if I like it or not. It can be peeled off in a few minutes.

My contractor needed work so i pushed up removing the ceiling and new garage openers. I'll be able to finally use my lift. YAY! While Im at it, I'll be painting and hoping to epoxy my floor. It'll be easier to clean up the oil that leaks from my 911. Plus Hoping to add some bling to the walls like gas station signs, grills, propellers and other nonsense so it will finally become my dream garage (well, closer to my dream garage, the real dream garage holds closer to 15 cars...)

After that...
  • New water pump and timing belt for mondial
  • Much needed tune up to mercedes
  • AND thinking of splitting my case on my 911 2.7 to replace a few drive shaft seals to cut down on the oil left on my new floor! I'm not thinking of a complete rebuild (but will probably replace a few things while I am in there. One thing in particular, I want to remove the heat exchanger bolts with longer new ones. We'll see how that goes.

Nice work guys. I work from home, so my time is actually limited but weekends are pretty open.

I have ordered mulch at Home Depot and it has been delayed and delayed. I could go there and pick up but I hear the place is a zoo and it is 140 cf. Latest delivery update is 4/8!

Only thing I achieved so far is a new dishwasher install - GREAT timing for that to go out second day of lockdown and I fixed the gears in the kitchen aid stand mixer that drive the attachments. I was going to grind some dried bread for crumbs and it took an aging gear set over the edge ...

Be careful on those ladders and under those cars. Now is NOT a good time to go to the hospital.

Well, I slowed down a little today. I decided to take my time and let every drop of oil drain from the Cayman. Whilst under there, hit the motor with degreaser and a brush, then finished it off with brake cleaner. The old oil didn't look, or feel bad, but not knowing when it was last changed, I wanted peace of mind.

When it was time to pour in the new Mobil-1, I realized I didn't have a new crush washer for the drain plug. Decided to drive down to where the local Porsche dealer was - and found out it actually 'WAS'. Apparently they recently moved 12 miles away to another town! To make matters worse, they're temporarily closed to the public due to COVID, so there went that option

Thinking ... I called my friend Andy at Callas Rennsport, which is only about a mile away. Drove the Ghia over there just before closing time, did a social distancing elbow bump and Andy handed me the much needed washer.

We had a late night home invasion two houses over, so yesterday afternoon we finally installed Arlo Pro 2 security cameras and a doorbell camera. All on battery to start but I have a plan to get them all plugged into AC. So far so good, I was concerned that I might need to add a range extender but they all seem to work well.

I have to say, a big thing I like about this site is there are people like me. I mention to coworkers about doing these big projects and they look at me like I'm showing off. With you guys, its more like "Rebuilding your engine, great idea. Look at the welding cart I built".

The people of this site encourage me to be a better person. More industrious, push the envelope of my abilities. A lot of people outside this site just want me to give up and sit on my ass all day watching tv and do nothing.

Thanks.

Did the same, but if you change your mind, you should do it sooner than later or it comes off in teeny tiny pieces, like shattered safely glass. If you search on Plastic-dip removal you can read the challenge to remove after a month or so.

Thanks for the warning, I will check it out. SmileWavy

I like this thread!!!

Instead of moaning about being bored like the majority we have people busy doing/fixing stuff

I've spent most of this week lugging and chopping up tons of stone. My yard resembles a Russian Gulag and I'm starting to feel a bit beat up ;)

Tidybuoy 04-03-2020 03:35 PM

Built a couple of fences. I'm not off work due to Corona as I am deemed essential so all my projects are being done after hours.

This fence is not finished as I still need to add the kick board at the bottom and I ran out of trim 1x3 for the top. I also will build a gate for the doorway. This is at my rental property and will separate the two units. The other side will be a medium size patio and the side I'm standing on has a large yard.

Guess it’s time to get back to this. I also have a transmission and engine to drop but not having a garage means I’m outside in the rain right now.

I gave a friend a bunch of CT-70s and spare parts a couple years ago. He's assembling a 'H' model (4-speed) out of them for me. I divested to focus on restoring the early Z50A models. I had one as a young teen but it was stolen from my brother's ranch

I hauled this one out to my place in AZ last summer ... on static display in the house - lol
