I can’t find the thread but this explains it... it’s like horse racing, a betting sport in Japan. The bikes only have two gears also, one for the start and the other for the race... like NASCAR the turn great one way...

Look how far off the seat he’s got himself positioned in the deep turns - center of mass control counts for a lot more than a fancy bike... basic fundamentals.

It might have been an exposition, as they race those crazy looking bikes as a means of gambling.
I agree with Jeff, it set up for this course, could you imagine trying to turn the other way with those handlebars? |

I bet the skinny tire bike is much easier to control at the limit. Were they running tighter turns and really leaning down I don't know how well he would have done. I wonder how he would do at the Isle of Man.
