I’ve been strangely gravitating towards wearing hoody sweatshirts and a thin down vest. Haha.

OK, so Houston is a very diverse city (4th largest in the country).

You will find that folks usually dress for HOT weather most of the year, and if there's a way to integrate boots or a hat or camo, then there's a good chance you'll see them regularly, but we also have hipsters, foreigners, and plenty of folks from other places.

I've never owned a cowboy hat or boots.

I play a game with my wife when we walk the dog. People we know. People who look like they are local. And people who don't have the look.

It is crystal clear where I live.

(Cue mean comment from someone around here regarding demographics in my neighborhood...)

We've got the 'beach town' look going on here...cargo shorts, T-shirt (preferably from some local surf shop) and flip-flops. This outfit seems to work for the winter rainy season too, although a flannel shirt w/a down vest may be added if it gets a bit too chilly. Very few seem to like wearing rain gear in the wet weather either...surprising how many people I see walking around in a downpour wearing just a T-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops

Younger women are into short-shorts and yoga pants, usually with some kind of tight-fitting top. Going bra-less is fortunately still alive & well around here too.

Patagonia and North Face gear for both men & women is very popular.

We've also got a bit of the 'vintage hippie' thing happening as well. I still see a fair number of older dudes sporting ponytails, ratty jeans and tie-dye T-shirts.

Yes and they all look like soccer moms in their SUVs and yoga pants. Some shouldn’t wear yoga pants but that’s the look or you’re ostracized.

Yep. Lots of young guys are portly, wear those shorts that go below the knees, a T-shirt or sleeveless shirt, and sport one of those chin goatee things with maybe a bill hat. Some of the women are skinny, some fat, and a bunch are toothless.

Yeah, but it's regional, split along geographical borders.
NE and SE Portland lean toward hipster, SW Portland is pretty damn sporty thanks to Nike, and NW Portland is all about the old money, honey.
(Lake Oswego is a subdivision of NW Portland).
(Go east towards Gresham if you want to hang with the rednecks)

At least half of our county is owned by German Baptists (like Amish except they use tractors). 200 years of being a close-knit community has lead to some very wealthy folks with huge farms, as well as physical characteristics that are far more common in their community than in the larger population. The two most obvious are a lot of Downs people and a lot of people with missing fingers or hands.

There is a lot of your common southern Ohio hillbilly look among the other half.

I'm always in (Non-designer) Jeans/sweatshirt/boots during the Winter, and Shorts/work tshirt/dockers in the Summer, and could care less what other people are wearing.

Yes they do.

And you just described my daily wardrobe. Thin down vest, long sleeve running sweatshirt, Under Armor short sleeve, and trail running shoes, some kind of comfortable well fitting jeans. OTOH, that is the upscale country look all over inland California rural areas. Coastal people wear flatlander running shoes with ankle socks, cargo shorts, some sort of windbreaker with a lining, and a bi-colored cap with a visor. The mono color hats are for unsophisticated tourists.

I grew up there and dad still has his house there on 16th Ave by Twin Lakes. Love that area and all it’s flora and fauna. Get to SC a couple of times a year and hate returning to Seattle-ish.

Our area has meth houses, trailer courts, mansions and everything in between with residents looks to suit. 30 year old pickups and BMWs. My favorite hangout is the local biker bar, The Last Frontier, teeth optional, T-shirts, not.

When we moved to LA about a dozen years ago, Mrs. Noah (a New Englander by birth) commented how everyone looks like a celebrity...but they aren't. So you'll be in line at the grocery store behind a woman who looks kinda like Jennifer Aniston, but isn't. Or sit a table in a restaurant next to someone else who looks like Keanu Reeves, but isn't.

Then again, every once in awhile you do wind up next to a TV/movie/rock/sports star.

But in general, LA's pretty diverse, so you get just about any and all types of looks around here. The yoga pants thing is pretty prevalent, though. Sometimes stunningly great, and sometimes not so great.

It's late summer here but still bikinis for the girls ( I live in a small beach town near Wellington).

That reminds me. I went to a boy racer day at an up country race track. All the girls seemed to be wearing low cut jeans, bikini tops and cowboy hats. Me being old and ugly, I had no problem what so ever wit the dress code.
